I cant remember the last time I was so bored watching us play.

Just a game that had no bite it seemed. I got the impression we were just setting ourselves for the next 2 weeks, then a finals campaign. Richmond were horrible.

Would have like a % boosta, but there was just no spark at all. Few good goals/plays by Cupido and some great marks by Matty the Great kept me awake.

Maybe it was coz I got no friggen sleep last night thanks to the fight this morning.
 
We wont catch the other finals teams percentages anyway. All that matters to us is 4 points. The next two weeks will determine where we are at. Win them both and we can finish as high as 4th, regardless of percentage.

Today, in the second half, Richmond dragged us down to their level. The game was over as a contest. They decided to restrict our scoring rate, which they did. But this is the exact reason why Frawley should be given the arse ... Richmond could have come back in the 3rd without having to flood.

The 4th quarter saw the biggest flood since Moses. :rolleyes:
 
Very boring. Not suprisingly, the other worst 4th quarter of football played this year was against richmond. 1 Goal was scored the whole quarter. How do they watch their games each week?

The difference between the two sides today was Matty Lloyd - take him out of that game and you know exactly where you stand - you are marginally better than us.

Put him back in and you are 6 goals better than us, but in reality probably just making up the numbers in the finals this year - at least you are there - good luck but don't get expectations to high, a disappointing finals series is worse than a better than expected - if you know what i mean.

Umm ... hang on. We were missing 2 of our top 5 out there today ... Jason Johnson and Sean Wellman.

Game was over 1/2 way through the 3rd ... only disappointed that we didn't drive Richmond into the dirt.

Oh yeah, good one!

watched the replay last night, even Lyon commented how boring it was, and that it felt like an 80 point thrashing, not 40 points.

We never got out of 2nd gear and walked thru you.

Oh congratulations on fighting at the end when we had all but stopped. Saw a distinct lack of pride and heart when the game was there to be won tho.

I'll tell ya how our finals campaign will go right now. It will depend on our draw. We will give ANY team more than a run for their money in Melbourne, but if we have to travel, pfft, forget about it.
 
Oh one point i did miss was that the other diff, was the level of grey matter (and i don't mean hair !!!) in the coaches box.

It seems that most of the bombers fans around me were suggesting the same thing but i can understand how every one sees the game in a different light.

With regard to your two late withdrawals i was only commenting about the teams out on the field. We have been without our caotain and vice captain for the second half of the year and i am sure you also have others out injured.

Ok so i take it you were not at the game - if you take Gary Lyon's view then it was boring but even if you were not at the game and watched it you must have seen how apart from the Lloyd effect (and a cameo by Cupido to a lesser extent) that this game was a succession of blunders and turn overs.

Don't kid yourself by saying that we dragged you down to our level - Good sides don't do that.

wtf are u going on about? if you read above, i started this thread before i saw the replay last night.

the game was ordinary, i dont necessarily think you dragged us down to your level, as I said, i think we just stayed in 2nd gear because there was no need to put the foot down.

There was no intensity from either side. It was like both sides decided Essendon are a class above, and just went thru the motions and thats how the game finished up.

Believe what you want tho.

Even if we got another five goals we would be still be 5% behind west coast with two games to go. And at this stage of the season thats alot.

yep
and take away our better skills, better game plan and better coach too while you're at it
take away our second quarter like danny frawley suggested and you would have been much closer
