There is nothing that annoys me more in cricket these days than these stupid reviews to see if it is a 4 or a 6.
Something so uncomplicated has been made into a drama for no reason.

Before roping of the boundary's became the norm the rules were very simple. Did the ball hit the boundary or run into the gutter as it was back then or not? Whether a players body had slid into the fence was of no relevance, the ball either hit the boundary or it didn't.
The same applied to sixes, did the ball clear the boundary fence or not? It mattered not what the fieldsmen did, in fact the fieldsmen could lean on the fence and take the catch.

So can someone please inform me why it is now so complicated?
Would it not be much simpler and more sensible to be the following.

A four is signalled when the ball hits or rolls over the rope. The fieldsmen can do as they choose as long as they stop the ball from hitting or rolling over the rope.

A six is signalled when the ball clears the rope on the full. If the catch is taken inside the rope then the ball cannot be taken over the rope.

Wasted times on pointless reviews are just plain old time wasting. The fieldsmen have nothing to do with the outcome, the ball is the only thing that matters.

Why has this been changed and for what reason?

i think they should just keep the game going. the only time to hold it up would be for 1) catches or 2) people nearing a milestone (100s only).

otherwise just keep playing and let them work it out with as much time as they want.
