Looks far more natural playing across half back where he is able to run straight up the ground and thump the ball 60 - 70 metres deep into the forward line.

yes he seemed to be very damaging and now that we dont need him so badly in the midfield (since we actually have some others who can play there now!) it might be good to see him stay there.

Still question his commitment and attitude.

However...

I also liked hime across that HBF. With Campbell returning this week through injury, l'd actually suggest we play Captain Achilles on the forward line because his kicking for goal is extremely valuable. Let Bowden have another go playing loose in defence.

My only concern though about Bowden playing in defence is that if he f ucks up there, the mistakes will be much more costly. He had a great game on Saturday where everything went right, but that is certainly not going to happen every week.

Good game on Sat, however needs to be more accountavle and put more pressure on his opponents. He's not one of the smallest players, and should play a more tighter role when required. Although this may be his style of play, and definitely looks more comfortable when given a bit of room, ne needs to tighten up.

Played good on Saturday.
Long way to go to prove himself as a complete player

Consistency, we all know that Joel consistantly gets the ball, but we all know that Joel consistantly turns it over..... I hope for Joel's sake that he manages to find some good consistency in hitting targets.

I don't mind the idea of Bowden & Fiora running hard from the half back line and carrying the ball. And I like the fact that they are prepared to take the opposition on and take risks. Sure they will make mistakes and sure there will be turnovers, but it's better that they are taking risks and being proactive rather than reverting to the short kicking reactive game that was played earlier.

If bowden is thumping the ball into our forward line it doesnt matter as much if his kicks arent directly to our players, because at least in will be deep in our forward line and Krak and Browny are fairly good at holding it in there

wrenny boy says-

Member that thread i did offseason?? Should bowden be played in the backline??

Haha i told ya thats where he is suited. You build your team around the backline and move forward. Having fiora chaff and bowden run outta defence would be classy.

i disagree with his comments:

bowdens return to form has been good but he needs to be consistent maybe running in a straight line is what he needs but we cannot afford to have bowden, firora and chaff on the backline-it is tantamount to handing the opposition easy goals. They really do not chase and mow down opponents. Look we have to get on bowdens case and urge him to contine his hard stuff. He plays well then relaxes. i do not like these types of players in our back half together...they are loose type players sure they might have rebound if you give the ball to them but who is giving the ball to them? Gasper is struggling, harti is doing well....kellaway is doing well. I still think Bowden is best on the wing or flank boting the ball to richo or thorugh the sticks but he has to earn his place....
