What is going on with Him. Needs a reality check. A week in the Two's would be the kick up the arse that this overated under acheived, gutless, spineless and brainless player needs. Doesn't tackle hard, carnt kick gets plenty of the ball but gives it up to easily.

Gee once I thought he could play. Now rate him very low. Sziller would have been better.

The only thing is, we can't drop everyone!!!

As has been pointed out elsewhere, Bowden is ulitmately a receiver and if we aren't getting enough quality ball to him, he suffers.

Though I may suggest that he will be doing a fair bit of kickout practice this week! :o

WE don't need anymore recievers. We need players who can get the pil. Tivendale can kick. Bowden can't. He has lost to much confidencs and needs to take a chil pil and have a week off in the two's. Just watched the game again and I'm absolutely sick of his ball wasting. Sides wont tagg him anymore because he gives up the ball anyway. For a player who got so much of the ball and turned it over as much he did NO FUGGIN wonder we lost.

Actually, Adelaide tagged him with Stenglein, their #1 tagger.

Bowden is obviously low in confidence and form- his games yesterday and against Melbourne were shockers. It may allow people to vent their frustration by calling for him to be dropped (or traded) but the only real consideration in selection is what will maximise our chance of victory. Despite his poor form this year after Round 6 Bowden is Richmond's #2 possession winner (after Campbell), equal top clearance player (with Campbell), #2 hard ball winner (after Ottens), equal #1 rebounder (after Torney), #1 inside 50 and #1 loose ball winner and #2 mark taker (after Ottens). No one will be surprised to hear he is #1 in clangers (19) but players who have had far less of the ball (Cameron and Hall- 15 clangers, Fiora 18 clangers) are not far behind.

To the many Bowden haters out there I would ask 3 questions
1 if he is such a soft player why does he get more hard ball gets than any of our other midfielders
2 if he is such a hack why did Adelaide put their best tagger on him and
3. which of our midfielders has done better this year (or are you gooing to drop all of them)?

We desparately need him in form- I think his poor form is the main reason our midfield is struggling so badly. I don't know what will turn things around for him but I really doubt becoming the fans #1 whipping boy will help- look what it did for Daffy.

bowden started as a forward so bloody well play him there and not turn him into a running defender were his errors are more critical. bowden as a forward should kick 40-50 goals per season.

I agree Bowden as a forward would be dangerous, as a half forward flank who could rome around anywhere in the forward half would be good.

Why did adelaide play stenglein on bowden?

Who else do we have in the midfield that would warrant attention? No one should be the answer, there in lies the major problem!

Why does bowden rank #2 in hard ball gets?

Well that is a surprise, but you cant tell me he aint afraid! I wonder where he would rank in AFL hard ball gets though, to be richmonds number 2 aint saying much now is it? We are an outside team.

Which of the midfielders have done better?

If they played a whole game in the midfield, Rodan, Poyas, Coughlan, Ednie would do better.

I dont think we should trade Bowden but he and we need inside players to feed it to him or just play him up forward.

He has unlimited potential but he is the most frustrating player to watch in the history of football, including richo, so thats why he has his haters.

We expect more Joel.

Bowden is a good player and definetely not trade bait.
He consistently gets the ball, his disposal and choice of the right option has been atrocious. Just has the dreaded Yips and is due to run into some good form.

He has some faults but is not the problem.
Could be the Saints syndrome when team is losing, team game plan gets thrown for individual survival, players playing for themselves.

Bowden

I'd bet my left n@t that Bowden would kick 50 plus goals if played on the forward line permanently.

He's 188cm or 6'1/2" nearly 6'2" and 90 kilo or 14 stone, there's not many midfielders around that size.

Put him down the forward line and leave him there.

CARN THE TIGES!!!!

Good to see him back in form. I'm on his wagon again.

The forward line is where he should stay.

He could easily average 3-4 a game there.

Maybe if he was playing for a team with a half decent midfield Bowden could play as a forward but let's face it our midfield is arguably the worst in the league. I thought it was very poor coaching from Frawley to leave Bowden at CHF in the third quarter when we were being smashed in the centre.

I doubt that there is another team in the league that is so dependent on its two leading midfielders (Campbell and Bowden) as we are. Who is our third best midfielder ?- last year it was probably Knights, who is it now King (I am beginning to think that Walls was right), Tivendale ??? -even St Kilda has Harvey, Thompson and Hayes. Leaving Bowden in the forwardline is a luxury that we just can't afford.

And it was amusing that once Bowden was moved upfield in the last quarter, we collectively started to lift.
