what does it cost to take one horse with the field in a box trifecta in a field of 24, i.e. tomorrow?
thanks in advance

If you want for example Makybe to win field/field. It will cost you 1*23*22 or 506 for a $1. It is worked out by mulitplying the number of runners you have in each position.

If you want to box up 6, it is 6*5*4 = $120 because you have 6 running for first, then 5 for second and then 4 for third.

$138 for 50c I think, $6 a runner I think, best to call the TAB today and find out.
I used to take a lot of 1 horse roving banker Tri's with 6 horses, always costed around $36

pick out 2 and box them with the field. 22 x 3 X 2 = $132 for $1, all you need is for your 2 to run the drum and hope a million to 1 pop wins. LOL

Alright people, I am lost on the whole trifecta thing. I have the card in front of me which I stole from TAB because I couldnt work it out at the time.

The first column asks for meeting. It has S,M,P etc and Cup. I presume Cup is the one I want?

Then it asks for the race. Race 7, I presume.

Then it has the 3 columns asking for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. The numbers on there correspond to the horse saddle number?

I have bet on the footy and the like many times but this horse racing stuff has me stumped. I cant find a link on the net to help me either.

A roving banker for 1 horse and then field will cost you :
1x23x22 + 23x1x22 +23x22x1
which is way to dear for my liking.
You are better off going Roving banker makybe
then 10 other horses you think will go good
that is 10x9x1 + 10x1x9 + 1x10x9 =$270
but go 50c so it will be $135

Yeh, its a WA one.

So what is a roving banker? Is that where you pick more than one horse for a certain place?

http://www.tabracing.com.au/

go here and on the menu on the left there is the "bet calculator" which might help.

yeh roving banker is where you choose 1 or 2 horses u think will certainly run a place.
then u pick another 3 or 4 or however many to fill the final placing.

Best way to take a roving banker tri is go up to the window and say this to the person
"I wish to take a roving banker tri on race 7 in Melbourne.
x as the rover banker
numbers x,y,z to run the placings
for 50 cents."

Filling it out on a card is a little hard, you'll need to fill in 3 cards and and it can lead to lots of TAB walk abouts

It'll cost $6 a horse (so 1 to rove, 7 others to run the placings will cost $42)
it's a great way to bet.
