Sports Boxing - Sparing

OK,

Some mates and I have been frequenting Fighters Factory in Blackburn and doing circuit work and low grade mit work with instructors for the past 15 odd months. This has been great, everyone's getting cut and staring to throw some mean punches. However, for the most part, there's not much sparing action at this gym besides the work that happens for the professionals there.

Does anyone know of any gyms (preferably in Melbourne's east or in the chitty) that facilitate sparing for Joe Blows? Friends and I wouldn't mind stepping in the ring with each other (or others at similar levels) and putting what we've been doing into action against something that will throw back and be unpredictable. Also, I'm sure there's a laundry list of reasons my mates wouldn't mind punching me in the face.

It would be great if the sparing was somewhat instructional with advice on what we're doing right and wrong from a technical POV as well.

Leo Berry's in Richmond cater to some amateur sparring a couple of nights a week I'm pretty sure, not sure which days though as it's been a while since I've been in there. Give 'em a call and see how you go, they're good blokes in there.

There are a couple of great places on the west side of the city, though I doubt you are looking to drive that far.

I've personally never been in there, but there is a well equipped gym right in the city on Banana Alley. I've heard it has turned into a bit of a commercial, fitness first type place, but it might be able to cater to your needs. I know it's a bit more casual in there, mostly circuits, but they might do some sparring sessions too. Problem is they'll try and get you to buy into a 12 month contract or some shit probably. I can't comment on the quality of the trainers in there either.

Really though, if I was you, I'd just speak to Murray and see what he says. He'll point you in the right direction. Tbh I would've thought there'd be someone around FF that could look after you guys, especially if you chuck em a bit of coin for their trouble.
