I've only seen the games vs Freo and Hawthord, prob our best 2 games of the year as they were televised in Perth. Brad Miller played well in both games leading up and taking a few good pack marks which he hasnt been renowned for. Is he someone we can look to as a future star and build a side around? Or will there be other key fwd targets required after Robbo??

Miller will never be a big goal kicker imo. he and Bate are fantastic together at CHF. Robbo is a much better target, unfortunately he doesn't have many years left in him

He has been playing pretty well this year, but Miller has done this before. Makes ya think he is a very player and then he goes missing again.

So is he trade bait? Or can He still be a focal point to our Fwd line. At the moment he's not a premiership winning CHF.

one thing i liked about Millers game this week, ok two, one he took marks out front rather than on the chest, which has been his let down over the years..but,secondly, I thought his second efforts were great, he isnt quick, but if the ball went over his head or was spoiled he chased and put pressure on the ball carrier, was a great effort.

I don’t think miller is trade bait.

If he can develop some consistency (like he’s well on the way to doing over the last six weeks) he is a very valuable contributor- even in a premiership team.

Our improving midfield and working in tandem with bate will benefit him immensely.

Also I doubt his market value would be particularly high and whoever we get for him would not be as valuable as he is to us now...

I have never been a huge wrap on Miller but if he stays playing CHF (as opposed to the backline) and goes as hard has he has been Id have to agree with you Pete. Millers doing ok :thumbsu:

I think to get the best out of him we can't have Dutchy up forward, as against Freo our two main targets were Miller and Robbo and it allowed Miller to play deeper. In previous years when Miller has been at CHF Neita and Robbo were also up forward and he was forced further up the ground.

Bate and Miller worked very well against Freo as Bate pushed further up the ground and Miller played a bit deeper with Robbo coming out of the square. I'd rather Bate further up the ground than Miller as Bate can find a lot of the ball (He can play midfield if need be).

Sorry about the confusion

Not quite following.
by dutchy do you mean brad miller?
because neither ben holland or david neitz played against freo

Read it again, closely this time, and you'll understand it.

I still don't understand it, the reference to Neita makes no sense to me.

He's saying that, to get the best out of Miller, he needs to play closer to goal like he did against the Dockers. The reference to Neitz was to say that, in previous years, Neita and Robbo played close to goal which forced Miller up the ground and he couldn't get the best out of himself on a regular basis.

Bate up the ground is good as Miller can stay closer to home with Robbo.

But looking at Robbo not playing Miller can play more deeper, unless of course we have someone that will be replacing Robbo up forward and needs that space, pushing Miller out more.
