Well wouldn't you guys be interested to hear this. Brad Scott came to our residence and did a talk about life, and how he got to where he is etc. Of course we asked him some questions about football related things too at the end of his speech.

He basically said the difference between a good side and a poor side is very small and that it's all the little things combined that make a difference. He also talked about his mothers passing and how that has had a profound effect on his hard work ethic and where he is now. He said that North are an under resourced club and need to practise innovation to succeed.

Now this weekend is by no means going to be an easy game. He seemed very determined to beat us and kept on referring to this upcoming game as a key one for them to get the season back.

His mother must have passed recently.... I remember hearing her speak on SEN about Brad when he got the job at Norf...

Pretty sure his dad died when they were young.... but I do stand to be corrected on this...

Id be very dissapointed if Hardwick isnt as focussed as Scott is....Im sure we will give it a huge shake up.

Sorry my mistake he talked about the passing of his father. Not his mother. But yeah he seemed really determined this week. He is in pretty good shape.

Yes/no....I'd be upset if he wasn't as determined and hard working, but at the same time, if North lose this game, they're stuffed. We can lose and still take steps forward.

Obviously I'd rather we won, but they need it a lot more (which would make our win sweeter).

North have had the reality check and discovered they just ain't much chop. This was looming all 2010 but they managed to play above themselves and delay the inevitable which I put down to Brad Scott's honeymoon year and being able to inject enough vitality into Arden Street to make them just slightly better than a rabble of teams last year like us, Bears, Crows, Power, Eagles, Dons etc

Boomer Harvey's public hanging of Wright and Hansen was very damaging both short and long-term. Could you imagine if Newy did that to Cotch or Connors for example? Just wouldn't happen. You can't ever undo that. Old guys criticising the young guys, take a look in the mirror first Boomer, no matter how good you've been, there is ALWAYS something more you can do to be better before you hang out your team-mates.

That being said, North will be keen to roll us for sure. They'll see it as a realistic rare chance of a win but in doing so may just overestimate their own abilities. They have a few more mature body types like Adams, Petrie, Wells etc. Will be an interesting game.

Delusions of grandeur me thinks. I mean come on brad, get the season back to what FFS? Didnt you learn from last year that there is more damage done when you are in the mix by default, rather than by your fault.
Didnt the collingwood arse whipping teach you anything? ;)

We have no excuse not to absolutely humiliate them. They ave injuries, are coming off a trip to WA and we have an extra day and a half rest. Our midfield should run them off their legs for once and Jack should run rampant. Time for Rance to step up and impose himself.

That said, I really like Brad Scott, reckon the guy embodies the shinboner spirit, no-nonsense attitude but at the same time you can tell he's trying his hardest to develop his young charges. Sadly, I'm in the Brendon Gale camp that argues without great money comes no great success

Let's not carried away here and comment on big wins in the form of humiliating the opposition.

Remember it is North Melbourne we are playing who've had the better of us in recent seasons. Harvey, Thomas and Wells somehow appear to lift another cog whilst playing against us.

I would be happy to win by a point, then build the momentum against Brisbane next week!

Absolutely.... A win would be fantastic but there are many many things more certain in football than us beating the Roos on Sunday. I just want to see the boys play 4 quarters of football and eliminate our poor starts. We don't need to win every quarter but just not getting blown off the park at least once a game would be nice...

We should win but we have a tendency to play our worst games of the season against North, and they have a tendency to get up and about for some bullshit milestone game that constantly appears for us.

You should work for the herald.

In all seriousness you would expect Thomas to have done alright against the Tigers but in reality has never done anything against them and the side played it's best game in years against the Tigers last year when he didn't play. :thumbsu:

* You're not alone, the papers throw him in the bests at times for a junk time goal and 8 possessions (mostly clangers). :o
