Just like to say that the coaching structure at the blues is looking more like it should be with 2 of our favorite sons returning to the club as assistant coaches under Dennis Pagen.

Both of these guys are on 2 year contracts so it looks like the club is putting into place the takeover structure for when Pagen's contract expires in 2 years.

With Crosisca handling the defence and Ratts working with the forwards structure (although I personally would have put him in charge of training the midfielders), I would think that Bradley would have to be our fitness coach.

There are going to be a few butts dragging after the first week of trying to run with Bradley :D

Now we need to get SoS back into the fold as the third assistant coach and the second coach working with our defensive setup and we will be well on the way back ;)

I also found it unusual that Rats would be working with the forwards, especially seeing that TD was doing that job last year, unless he has been sacked I don't know about it.

Much rather see Rats working with the midfielders, although i'm sure he will at some stage.

SoS was part of my brothers football a few years ago, took a few training sessions etc.
He said he was boring and had nothing to say.. Different to AFL ofcourse as this was school footy but It's a sign that he isnt coaching material. If you cant inspire school kids and teach them something thats worth remembering, he will probably struggle to teach pro's such as Thorton etc. Again, I know his heart and mind probably wernt in the school training sessions but I was disapointed to hear how he wasnt exciting nor inspiring.
I'm not sure if another Carlton legend is needed. We should be satisfied with Ratts and Bradles.
Do you really think SOS would bring that much to our team? Our backline isn't strong but I don't know if he is the man to rectify it.
Thoughts?

TD is only part time. Ratts will be involved in many aspects, no doubt the mids will get some input at training, but he will probably take the forwards on match days.

Braddles is not the fitness coach. He is there under the veil of youth development. If we don't hire a specialist sports physiologist/strength and conditioning coach then we deserve to finish last for the next five years.

I just hope Ratts can tech those boys down in the forward line how to make enough space. We have some serious big boys down there next year, especially with the monster Kennedy filling his CHF shoes. So thats JK, Fev, Waite and Fish... all forwards over 190 cm. We have to give them direct instructions.

Personally i hope that fish can muscle up and stay put in the goal square, he is a fantastic mark.

Waite should run out of the 50 as a forward flanker. He has great athletisism and great hight, would be a serious mismatch for anyone. He needs to work on kicking so it would be better if he passed it on.

I hope ratts can figure out some sort of system. I also expect him to be chipping in with the midfielders as well as the forwards.

Tend to agree. The reports coming out of his final year were that he wasnt exactly much help to Luke Livingston when he was being groomed as the 'next SOS' and I havent exactly heard superbulous things out of the Western Bulldogs either. Doesn't mean he doesnt have it in him, just judging by that and his less than illuminating stints in the media, he doesnt appear to quite have what it takes.

As much as i like to hate Carlton,I have been very disapointed in the slide of this once mighty club. Elliot had all most destroyed the club with his mis-management and things have looked even worse the last few years with bottom of the ladder finshes.

But with the appointment of ex-super star players like Bradley, you guys are on track to getting back to power house status i think. Carlton has so much history and has so many of the League's past all time best players,i really hope they can get back and be a force like they once were, in the near future.

Just don't go beating us by 1 point in any more pre-lim finals ok;)

Name one AFL/VFL footballer who was really interested in going out to the primary schools and teaching the kids.

I think that once a month while I was at St Raphaels in Preston, we had some filth players coming out to try and teach us... I went to one of the training sessions and decided that I would be better off going home after school and having a couple of young fitzroy players (and future stars) teach me. I dont know whether it was because they were from the filth or whether they were just crap, but I got more skills off the Serafini's and Gary Wilson than I got off them.

As I said, I think that he would be best serving the club as the second coach in the backline after Crosisca.

About 6 years ago, Jason Dunstall came and coached my footy team for a session. He was energetic and made us work hard which was exactly what we wanted to see from an ex AFL footballer, to get a taste of what AFL really is like.
Sheedy also took a training session of mine and was similar to Dunstall in the way he coached. That was how an ex footballer and present AFL coach taught a young bunch of kids. That is how you would expect any AFL star to teach a young bunch of kids.
I cant say hes not up to it due to lack of enthusiasm during a school football training session but I can say that you get a hint of the coach that he would be. SOS on channel 10 was/is un-inspiring and again doesnt say anything worth thinking through. We all know how good a footballer he was but my opinion is that he would struggle as a coach.

Braddles is only there part time as well so i hardly think he will be fitness coach, probably youth development as you said:thumbsu:

Dont you guys read the CFC Website? ;) Apparently, Braddles is part-time (Because of work committments) however he is taking on the role of youth development/working with our younger players.

Pagan said either on the website, or in an interview on SEN, that Ratts will be the forward coach, and LIbba the midfield, but they will be working closely together, and probably even swapping roles by midseason.

I think just coz his official role is to work with the forward, Ratts will be influencial across all areas. Fev is goign to love having him up there!

I am genuinely excited about next year, and it haven't felt this happily nervous about the Blues for a while!!!
