I didn't mind it actually....

are we saying that Bradman cannot be the centre of any satirical post ? Mark Waugh is fair game....why not Bradman ?

There was nothing in that which would wouldn'd read on "The Bladder" every day.

Not having a go at the moderator mind you, and not asking for it to be openned or anything.....just posing a question....

Fair point ptw. I think in 10 or 20 years time nothing will be thought of such satire, but given the timing of the post, being less than a month after Bradman's death, it was probably in somewhat poor taste.

it is not really about closing or not....more about whether it was just because it was about Bradman...and if so why ??

at the endof the day it is up to you or WCE and what ever you do is fine by me....just thought it was interesting that's all.

It wasn't because it was baout Bradman, i think the problem was really the content and how it was put!!
We don't like to read garbage stories such as that. He was an Australian great and to read that was a bit disturbing.
When you think about it, moderators are a bit like umpires - some of our decisions are controversial

It is good that you querie about this as the members of the board deserve their say and we are always willing to listen!

Discussing an Australian greats life and the timing since he just died was in very poor taste in my opinion.

Ptw - I've got nothing against a laugh, tell me a funny joke anyday and I won't have a problem, as people have said the content and placement was just a bit out of place. Plus within an hour of the post being put up on the board there was a complaint - which was good enough for me to lock the thread and swallow the key.

I know moderating can be a thankless job, but we are not all kids who need protection from the evils of society. One complaint and a decision is made on behalf of the whole Big Footy community? I enjoy myself here, but this censorship is getting out of control.

Santos L Helper - Feel free to write a letter to the Bradman Trust with a URL of the thread and they will get the final say in if they think it's insulting or not. If they are fine with it, RF1 and myself can see that it gets changed.

What good will that do me? I think the Bradman trust is an autocratic organisation with little regard for anything which happens in the real world.
Did the ONE complaint come from them? If not, why should I ask them to review the thread?

Unforunately you have to take the good with the bad. Some moderator decisions maybe aren't to everyone's liking, but we are not perfect.

Calling us 'nazis' and 'fascists' is just laughable. As I have often said, half the stuff that goes up on this site wouldn't survive for five minutes on any of the Fairfax site or club site boards. We try to be fair, but it is impossible for us to please everybody all the time.

If you are concerned about threads being wiped or locked, post your message for general discussion and then E-MAIL ME, preferably with the URL of the message you have posted. Just posting threads and wailing about how 'fascist' the moderator acts is not likely to get you much action. We cannot read all of the hundreds of messages that appear on the site each day and it might go unnoticed. I only found this one when someone complained about it.

Unless this thread degenerates any further into name-calling it won't be wiped.
