We should be interested. Now he is having trouble at Gold Coast, and could potentially be moved on. Obviously has some discipline issues.

I've always liked the look of Brandon, Fremantle blood lines and really should have been available as a father son to us.

Getting him cheap would be worth our while and would add to our small forward stable.

Him, Saunders & Dell'Olio would go alright down at Souths.

Harley Bennell (assuming we can keep him on the straight and narrow) and Jesse Hogan would make us a force to be reckoned with for the next decade.

I highly doubt we'll get either, let alone both. While we are at it, why not chuck Rory Sloane in the shopping trolley to keep Taylz happy?

Just because a player is not presently in tune with the demands of the team does not mean they are about to be off-loaded.
Suns will try all options to turn things around first.

Do not want.

For years the club traded our early draft picks away. I would like to see them continue to back our drafting and development system to bring through talented players while keeping a balanced TPP system. Why trade away some of our good young blokes (Crozier / Sheridan / Duffy / Sylvia ) for a guy with a patchy off-field history.

Even if one of our young blokes wanted a trade, I'd rather try and get an upgrade on a 1st/2nd round pick rather than someone who can't stay off the piss for a few days.

We would have to overpay for him.

Makes more sense for our little sisters down the way.

I'd rather target Key Position or just keep going to the well.

Nope. Can't see where he'd fit in our best 22, or even where he'd be an upgrade on our best 30. He'd be more expensive than we'd be willing to pay both in terms of $ and picks. And he'd probably take as much development as a kid from the draft anyway

our record with 1st round picks is actually not great.

people also overrate first round picks.

I'd trade our first round pick next year for Matera as it will be in the high teens.

For every Fyfe there are 20 Pitts at that level in the draft.

they are already discussing trading Bennell. Hunt was the guy keeping him on the straight and narrow (as strange as that seems).

You'd room Bennell with Walters and just hope it all went well so you wouldn't want to pay too much for him.

Matera on the other hand could realistically come cheap.

Yes :)
I wasn't suggesting it, it's just that he is our most valuable out of contract player, then Tabs, then Sheridan/Crozier and Gold Coast is so average in the ruck.
Matera is worth none of the above. All those mentioned are far superior and are our future, have good heads on their shoulders and we have put considerable time and effort into their development. Let the WCE pick up another party boy, not interested.

Crozier / Sheridan are hardly "far superior". Neither of them can get a game.

In a 5-0 team. Few players their age would get a game in our side at the minute. Both would get games ahead of Matera, have more feathers to their caps and are only held out by the incumbents performing. Says more about our depth than their abilities.

I wouldn't give up much if anything for him. Certainly neither of those two.
