Don't know if a thread on this has been started, but the Herald Sun reported yesterday that Carlton will be making a good play on securing Brennan, hoping that Fevola's contract doesn't get terminated so they can't fit him in their salary cap. I always thought having another versatile body like Waite would fill many holes in Carlton's setup, but should we be seeking KPPs in the defence? No doubt Brisbane won't give him up easily, and they'll be livid after the Fevola deal has turned sour for them.

Pick 18 for Brennan.

A GUN.

As mentioned above having 2 inter-changable's (Waite & Brennan) would provide enourmouns flexibility & options if one wasnt having a great day back or forward.

I would welcome Brennan at Carlton.

People that carry on about his inconsistency seem to be living in the distant past. Has become a very consistent footballer whose versatility would see him add an extra dimension to our midfield, whilst drifting forward occasionally to good effect.

And those bemoaning the fact that ZOMG Brennan isn't a KPD!!!1! we need some1 to help that spud Bowers!!11!, I think we should draft two mature-age KPD's from the VFL/WAFL/SANFL with our late picks or in the rookie draft, and hope that one of them makes the grade.

Brennan's price would be the main sticking point, however.

This is the second time he has held out on contract talks with Brisbane. His attitude bothers me. We have just gotten rid of the biggest tumor in the AFL, and now we want to recruit another bloke who puts himself before the team.

Buyer beware.

isn't there a rumours thread already?

Oh and no to Brennan. We already have our own versions in Waite and Walker.

Kouta could also pick up the footy with one hand and he actually played more than 1 or 2 good games a year.

Pass.

Come on down SOS and Braddles. These 2 did it to us every time they came off contract and they were alright players.

I've always liked Brennan, there's a touch of the Kouta about him, and would much prefer him to Tarrant who's too old in my view for us.

Wouldn't be too disappointed to give away pick 18

No wonder we were over the cap!

Brennan can play, no doubt. And pick 18 is probably too cheap. I'd say a pick around 8-10 would be needed to swing the deal, or a player.

Pick 18 + Walker might get it done, but I don't think it's worth the hassle.

Brennan's not much of a footballer, boy is this thread overrating him! He's inconsistant, soft and not very strong and he's nothing like Kouta for those comparing the two. I'd rather Everitt.

Brennan is over-rated IMO. He has some ability, but has been poorly developed at the Retreads. Does a lot of undisciplined stuff. Not sure if that can be fixed now. Anyway, it's EXTREMELY unlikely he'll leave Qld. I reckon the Retreads will trade with GC17, and GC will pay him plenty as well but they'll have to hand over a good draft pick. Agree on Everitt. He's the one we could develop into a very good footballer.

:)

I've watched him probably 8-10 times a year for the last 5 years and yes he was inconsistent when young but now he is a solid performer who is one of Brisbane's best players. So no he will not go cheap and pick 18 would be the starting point.

He plays as a tall midfielder mostly except does get moved around a bit too. This year at times depending on Brisbane's injuries he played CHF (when Fev and Brown were out), HBF/ 3rd tall providing run (when Drummond and Adcock and a few others were out) and wing/mid (Brisbane's preferred position for him). In each position he was at least reasonable and would definately add something to our team wherever we wanted to play him.

I would take 18 for Brennan. But he's not worth Walker + 18. maybe need a sweetener like swapping our 2nd pick for their 3rd or something.

That deal may have some here salivating, but let's think about it.

Walker is 24 and Brennan 26.
There were enough good games from Walker this year to suggest we may well start to see what we had all hoped to see.
Walker will always be best served working wing and forwards, not the backline anyway as we were forced to use him there this year.
2 years ago Brennan would have been as speculative a bet as Walker is now, and then to throw our first rounder in for good measure?

No f...ing way.

Agree, I'd like Brennan but no way at the expense of Walker. I don't want to see him go anywhere including our backline

I'd much rather us invest in Drummond and Tarrant. High Risk v High Reward

Tarrant - CHB
Drummond - HBF

Tarrant may only have 2 years left but at least that's another 2 years of development for Aussie and co. He fills the gap currently and will allow Jamo to also develop further as he won't be bashed against the biggest body each week. Bower will also be able to do what he does best and that is to run off his opponent.

Drummond - Injury is a risk yes, but so is injury with Brennan. Drummond is far superior with regards to consistency of form when compared with Brennan and he would free up Gibbs from the HBF as well as providing excellent service for our forwards.

Including both of these guys would finally allow Waite to become a permanent forward. Let's not forget that this was his first year doing so. In the next couple of years I can see the Waite/ Hendo forward line supplied by the crumbing of Setanta's little helpers being one of the most dangerous around.

Living in QLD I have seen a lot of Brennan and though he has some games of brilliance, he goes missing way too much. No thanks and not at the expense of Walker, who wasn't had a full pre season since he was 17. Give Tex 4 months in the pre season with skills training and time in the gym and he will be a different player. I'm hoping anyway.

I think he would work out well. I'd be happy for him to go forward and Hendo go back. I'm still of the view Hendo will be a 'competent' forward but could be an 'excellent' CHB. I'd be happy to pick up Tarrant for the right price also.

Our first pick in the draft? Pick 18?
No Way!!

He's a good player. But let's not sell
our future. Keep bringing young talent
into our list.

We used Pick 11(Gysberts)last year on a
experienced 24 year old.

If we use our first pick we truly haven't
learnt about trading away first round picks
for a player that will give 3-4 years service
(Mansfield for Chapman pick '99)

For Brennan Id offer any 2 of Thornton,
Anderson, Walker, Browne, Austin, Hadley +

2nd round pick. That's it.

Thornton + Browne. Wow that would be a nice trade..

I know Crazzy Vossys in charge but why would he want 2 fringe players from us for Brennan - besides Walker all others listed above are fringe players. No way I can see that happening. Maybe Walker and a pick
