I think this guy would have been a very handy pick up instead of another top 20 draft pick. He plays our game-style very well and has a booming kick and is strong around the stoppages.

Meyer will be a similar player to Moloney though, and we also have Newman, Tivendale and Bowden to kick long into our forward line, so don't worry

Lol, sorry to bag him on one game. He just frustrates the shyte out of me, as he isn't using his greatest asset as much as I would like him to. Wish he comes through with his confidence high and his booming left boot on fire!

We lost a bucketload of cash and were hugely over budget. By moving on Ottens and Fiora for Simmonds and draft picks we probably saved $300 or so.
If we swapped Ottens (say $450) for Moloney (say $250) and a pick we would not have saved enough cash to get under budget. There were a lot of player-and-pick packages offered to us but we had to get deals with just picks.

Did we ever have the chance to actully pick up Moloney?
It would have been Maloney and pick 16 for Ottens if we wanted him. Geelong traded him to Melbourne for pick 12 which they passed on to us and we drafted Meyer. Meyer looks an exciting prospect so at this stage I'm happy we went for the draft pick over Maloney.
