A Thornton thread .... he couldn't make an appearance could he? Where is his biggest fan? I admire his ability to turn positives into negatives and point out how T-Bird almost lost us the game. That's dedication.

Might be hard pressed this week however. Thornton is starring and seeing some of the things he does, I have to wonder how many other defenders are as capable. He may not be Scarlett elite but he is definitely on the next rung down with plenty behind him.

Even better when you consider he was picked up in the rookie draft.

Of our 22 last night, Setanta, Joseph, Thornton and Carrazzo. Add Jamison and that's a quarter of our best 22 off the rookie list. Have used it exceptionally well.

Ah okay fair enough, truth be told, I have been copping a bit of flaming after that ridiculous thread i posted about being happy with a 5 goal loss , and yeah Kramer took me to task before, so I'm a bit precious/sensitive right now, but I appreciate the clarification

Somewhat pint fuelled, and fairly paid for it today if it helps....moving on.

Thornton was outstanding, as he has been most of the year. Rarely makes a bad decision, and his ability to read the play is absolute top-shelf.

I'd have him in the top handful of rebounding defenders this year, probably shading higher profile types in the form of Enright and Fisher. Thank christ we played hard ball with the Hawks.

He was simply outstanding.

It's really great how he's stood up lately, with our depleted defense and all, his career best form has come at the right time that's for sure.

He was most certainly the "General" of our defense last night, loved him.

i was always a fan anyway, but he seems to be taking a lot more contested marks this year, is that right or was he always doing that?

He's become a lot better.

He is our best player to do the rebound from defence, but 1on1 he still gets beaten a lot. It's great to see we have Jamison and Bower as our key defenders, leaving Thornton to play the 3rd or 4th tall, throw in Waite when he comes back, our defence lineup is looking great.

Has been fantastic this year. Save losing us the game in round 4 giving away that 50....

Jeez talk about holding a grudge.

The role Thornton is playing is a match made in heaven. Reads the play well and always hits a target. Not too often a defender will WIN you a game...

He is a fantastic mark & glad he didn't go to the hawks.

We only need a penetrating kicker from defence to have a great defence.

Hoping Rhys O'Keefe is this player.
