Was reading an article about him in yesterays Herald Sun. The coach from Murray Bushrangers said he is the best he has coached there, better then Justin Ko********zke.
And it also said he came fourth in the B&F, so didnt he play all year for them or something?

i get the feeling the respective clubs really crave having a #1 pick because of the publicity it brings. hence, they make outlandish comments that place too much expectation on the kid. i read this same coach say in inside footy on deledio "a developing chris judd type". i mean seriously what is the point in saying that, all the guy is going to do trying to live up to that is fail. judd was a super player underage but he also adapted and embraced the afl environment remarkably well and flourished because of it. this is the one aspect of young players which cannot be tested or judged. talent alone did not get judd to where he is. luck, the right club, the right teammates, the right coach and the right mindset are just as responsible for judd being so good.

test of character is just as important as talent...

Deledio will be a gun. Will be interesting to see how he goes if he plays seniors next season which is quite posible.

i think it is quite obvious he has the ability but if he goes to richmond or hawthorn the pressure may overwhelm him.

All you have to do is look at luke hodge to see how a no 1 under pressure can go.

as per usual though, you generalise a small minority of Richmond fans as if we are all the same.

So now a Richmond fan cant get excited about getting Deledio? The team has been shocking especially the past few years, the board has been disgraceful and now we have some teeny bopper West coast W@nker telling us to not get excited about recruiting some decent talent.

i never said all richmond fans. i know richmond have their good and bad supporters like most clubs, but richmond do have a reputation forged through many years, not just this one. i agree only a minority spit on their players, but there were a large number booing their coach and the like. this is what gives them a bad name. im not saying u do that or even half of the members do that, but i dont think many other clubs supporters would ever boo their coach like that.

im sorry but i think u have totally taken what i said way to strongly. it wasnt meant to be some attack on the footy club. it was a comment on the supporters, a comment echoed throughout the football world for many years.
