Wondering how he is doing down in your neck of the woods?

IMO Brett has the football brain equal to his brothers, but not the same confindence in himself and his ability to use it.

Found myself watching him intently at the Saints v Bombers game at Colonial that I saw in 2002 (Rnd 8?), and getting increasingly frustrated with him.

He seemed to want the ball, got the ball, decided what to do with the ball, then all of a sudden not back himself and end up fluffing too many things.

When he left the Lions he said he wanted to go elsewhere to see if it was his football ability holding him back, or if it was someone here holding him back. But I gotta wonder if he has found the answer to that yet.

Can you tell me how you think he is going?

Cheers
Danni

I think this is his make or break year. If he doesnt become a consistent performer, I think he'll be gawwwwn.

Great mark, great kick.
Not quick enough by foot or by brain to be used in the midfield, not tall or big enough to use his marking abiliity, has nowhere near the same peripheral vision as does Michael, gets blindsided too often. At his best when bobbing up in the forward line for a mark drifting down the ground.

As St Kris said, is really a make or break this year.

With OP out of the way this year, we should see him on a more consistent level & thus be able to judge him fairly.

I rate him, had a purple patch for about a month, but then lost the same intensity for the rest of the season.

Make or break absolutely, but has talent & is probably close to being the gutsiest bastard on our list.

Im still trying to figure out when that was?

I think he did get a couple of votes for that match against the Eagles. But I cant quite remember any other matches that he really shined in.

i agree with falchoon...not quite quick enough by foot or by BRAIN.

the key to his game and him playing well is to not think about what to do but act on his instinct. too many times he was caught with the ball contemplating which option he'd take. by the time he then did the guy he kicked too was usually covered by then or he would be caught with the ball or caught as he was giving it off ensuring he sprayed his kick/handball.

the key to V2's game is to NOT think.

Voss had no pre season last season due to oestitis Pubis, he played all 22 games and on 7 occasions had a 15 or more possessions with a top of 27 possies, i think with a pre season under his belt we will see a better year from vossy, confidence has always been his major barrier, hopefully this year he will believe in himself more and play with his instincts, definately should not be used in the last line of defence though.

Will show by example how to burrow in, chase and tackle

It was my understanding that his oestitis pubis was now not a problem, so he would be completing full training, am i wrong.

Yeah sadly you are mistaken. He was struggling to get the OP under control & just before Christmas had an operation similar to Michael to correct the problem. Should join in training soon hopefully.

i was talking to vossy in september and he was saying that he was hoping it would be fine and he woulnd't need the op. I really hope he does well. I would envisage a fit voss being used on the wing as a marking option coming out of defense and running into the forward line and as a tight checking player.

Yeah they hoped his would settle down, but it took longer than he thought to settle down so he had the same OP as Michael did into last season. He wasn't training when I was there recently (I was late mind you) so I'd say he's still in the rehab group. Soon enough he should join back in. I hope he kicks on this year.

I think he can play he tendss to get a bad wrap from the coaching staff and is always taken off let him go and you have a ready made footballer.

I think if he had a different last name, we probably wouldnt even be asking this question. He'd be just a good young kid with plenty of potiental. The name Voss is a curse!
