AFL Club
Geelong
From all accounts he is doing a great job mentoring the young Crows players.
Also is doing very well at SANFL level.
I wonder if we could get him back in a fitness/coaching/mentoring role, while captaining the VFL team.
I dunno if FD spending cap is in yet but having him (and also Stokes if delisted) playing VFL might have some of their wages not counted in the cap.
Also never been too sure on Obree. Wouldn't mind moving him on and looking at another coach to develop our young mids.

Loved what Pods did for us but don't want a 34 yo blocking the progress of any up-n-comer. Perhaps an assistants role if one crops up.

Wouldn't mind the club re-assessing the twos coach though. Just a thought.

Unless they bring him in similar to Troy Selwood, on the staff and VFL listed

Id like to see a joint role of sorts... Let SJ take a go at it.

SJ would be fine as by all accounts he has a very good feel for the tactical side of the game. However, I think he wants to play on and if we don't offer him a deal someone else will.

hopefully he learns from Chappys mistakes and if he is offered a year he takes it

Wondered how long before Chappy's circumstance would pop-up again.:)

As I put earlier I think SJ wants to play-on and would be looking for something along the lines of the GWS proposal if he was to move. Think that was 5 years all-up. Brings much more to the table than Chappy as a tactician by all accounts.

Anyway, we a drifting as this is about Pods and I don't see a role for him as a player. Assistant perhaps, if there's a spot.

Yeah. That's what I meant. Didn't mean to imply I wanted him to play AFL for us.
Thread title might be a bit misleading.
Learnt a bit off Robbo this week

Doubt there's as much ill-will between Scott and Johnson as there was between Scott and Chapman at the end of 2013.

Well if Chappy had felt some ill-will toward CS it has cost him. The reverse is only in your biased mind. He was offered a contract which involved putting back into the club while still getting some senior games and turned his back on that to venture to the Bombers. Hasn't that gone well?

Anyway, this thread is about Pods. The other bloke isn't a Cat as we speak.

Yeah! Got that! Just don't want him taking a twos spot from an up-n-comer either. Suspect he'll get a position with the Crows in an assistant coaching capacity when things settle in any event.

If his intent was to get as much money out of his twilight years as he could, then it probably has.

Both the Chappy and pods move were right.
In fact, so was the Corey move.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a year of pods, at vfl level.
And especially with his fitness training.

Jay Clark mentioned a week or so ago that if SJ retires from playing he thinks Balmey will get him to Collingwood as an assistant next season.

He'd learn more at Hawthorn

The reason why we should have kept him -to offer a coaching role when he retired. remember he came to us a as coach. And there ain't much to beat in terms of our assistant coaches at the moment.

Maybe the club should focused on getting the best people for the job rather than getting all past players and favourite sons back at the club.

Looks at EFC it worked so well for them loading a dream team favourite sons coaching panel ... Lol picking Hird over Bomber
