Thought the squad was pretty much spot on last night but I think Grundy should come in for Davis (who did bugger all). Any thoughts?

You have no idea.

Grundy and Davis aren't in the same position. Davis was in the midfield all night, the only time he was really doing any forward job was when he took that mark in the final minutes of the last quarter.

He didn't do much, but he didn't waste any of his possessions either. You can see he's lacking confidence (i wonder why) but i wouldn't be giving up on Davis this early.

He's got something that Grundy will never have.

Can't beat finals experience at this point. Reg was fantastic, and will be for Sydney next year and beyond. But Nick won't be dropped from here. And he didn't do bugger all. We were playing the Eagles and a number of players always "appear" to vanish from the stat sheet as we fight tooth and claw to hold them down. Amon, Fossie and even Goodsey struggled last night to get their usual quota of touches. And you couldn't possibly say any of those players weren't putting in a 100%

On a sidenote: Reg wouldn't exactly be a direct swap for Davis, at any rate. As Nat points out, Roos has been using Nick across the half back line and through the midfield a lot, while Reg is a KPP forward.

BTW it was pleasing to see Nick's workrate around the ball. Pulled off some heavy tackles on the night. Shame he didn't land that last shot on goal.

Not quite fit enough to be even close to running out a game as a midfielder - but he did pretty well with the possessions that he had (and he had more than Fosdike and Bolton, and in fact had similar numbers to the rest of the midfielders). No obvious standouts in the Swans midfield yesterday except Goodes and McVeigh for his fabulous job on Cousins in the first 3 quarters.

Yeah, i distinctly remember some nice tackles he had, aswell as some handballs (one to Malceski which set up Baz goal in final term & nifty handpass to Tadhg as he was running through the centre corridor).

Davo played much better compared to the past 2 weeks. Reg is a great forward, but isn't quite ready with the finals footy, just not yet. Nick Davis has more experience in finals footy, and it's defineltey a different atmosphere compared to the H&A season.

Overall, Nick Davis played well. Effective kicks, and as Nat said, some effective handballs which eventually turned out to be goals. Great tackler! :D

Davis played OK. But they still will not kick it to him! Hall in particular had the ball at one point, Davis gave him a lead for a which he would have marked just outside 50 but Hall refused and tried to kick to MOL on a one-on-one. Frustrating stuff.

Yeah, i just watched the replay and i noticed that at one stage. He had Davis short and open but he went to Mick with a one-on-one with another defender coming across to help.

Nick needs to get his confidence back up, it still seems an issue. I've got faith he's going to really pull through though. I love seeing him out there firing.

and when he is firing, he is explosive and dangerous. :D

Philps in , Davis out (he even kicked it OOB last week !!!)

So did Snides, who [i think] kicked it twice out of bounds. But Flipper still needs to beef up abit, but then again size doesn't really matter. However, the finals is a different game and concept, and flipper doesn't have the experience yet. He only played... 3/4 senior games. I think he should have a few more senior games under his belt next year, but thats if he gets chosen into the senior side. It seems unlikely, we hardly have serious injuries [but thankgod for that].

Didn't Baz kick one out on the full aswell?

There's no way in hell Paul Roos would drop Nick Davis for the preliminary final. The last 3 weeks i think he's done a good job for the position that he is playing in. I would like to see him up forward more though for the prelim instead of in the midfield.

I think Baz did kick one, he was under pressure. Actually, mostly all of the OOBOTF is done under pressure.

But i agree. There is no way Roosy would drop Davis. He is good, and has been playing better, but not as good as he was in the beginning of this year and late last year. But Davis knows when it is right to fire up, if only he was consistent.

And Davis as a midfield is okay. But since we got a full line of healthy (sort of?) forwards, i dont think Davis can squeeze in.

I think it really depends on how they want their forward structure. Like on the weekend our forward line was very open.. the majority of the night it was only Baz and Micky.. then in the last quarter Schneider was in there for a while.

I'd love to see Nick kick some goals next week! Oh and hopefully Fremantle win this weekend so they show the Freo vs Swans game from earlier in the year where Nick kicked 4 goals and LRT was in the ruck! Haha.. i loved that game for those 2 reasons and because we won of course.

I remember that game. We finally clicked in the last quarter of the game and Nick Davis kicked 4 goals. It was great, and we came from behind too. Also, there was a fight against Amon and a Freo player. Don't see much fighting anymore! :( anywho, LRT was great as a ruckman, he really turned the game around for us!

Probably only change will be Bevo for Dempster. Bevo will take the Whiz if we are playing Freo or Davey if playing the Dees
