Brisbane set to shake things up

Brisbane Bears are set to make a number of changes to their list after another substandard finish. "We felt we could improve a lot more than we did. Although we have noticed our improvements, we are striving to make finals next season. We are still going with a youth policy, but we want the youth to be talented as well" Pie 4 Life said today.

Hudson retires

Ben Hudson announced his retirement after a couple of seasons at the Bears, with Max Bailey making his way through the ranks.

Uncontracted tradeables

Angus Monfries, Brent Reilly, Lindsay Thomas and Joseph Dare are the uncontracted players up for trade. We won't let them go for free unless there is a big fee on their head, so if you're interested, rather than bid, PM me and we'll sort out a deal.

Contracted tradeables

Jamie Bennell
Bradd Dalziell
Jason Davenport
Brad Dick
Nathan Djerrkura
Marc Lock
Luke Power
Ben Ross
Nick Salter
Mark Williams
Austin Wonaeamirri

So anyone interested in these blokes let me know :)

Brisbane welcome Jarrad Grant to the Gabba

In their first officially signed trade of the week, Brisbane has welcomed key forward Jarrad Grant in exchange for Anthony Morabito and a pick upgrade. "Jarrad will boost our forward stocks and we expect him to be the Dogs' main target now Barry Hall is gone. We were sad to lose Anthony, but we believe we have got a good prospect in Jarrad"

West, Reid & Warnock head to the Gabba

Trent West, Ben Reid and Matthew Warnock have all become Lions today, trading places with Matthew Spangher, Brent Reilly and Austin Wonaeamirri. As well as this there was a swap of picks, with 27, 31, and 54 coming to the Gabba while 7 & 32 departed. It was believed that Trent West fills the void that Ben Hudson leaves after retiring while Ben Reid becomes a crucial key position back, and Matthew Warnock as backup. Brisbane's 2012 Team is beginning to take shape.

Gawn and Butcher join Bears for the next five years

Brisbane have landed a massive deal which sees young guns Max Gawn and John Butcher head to the Bears to not only save salary cap, but set up their future with youth. Along with them, Pick #43 was transferred to the Bears, while Angus Monfries, Max Bailey, Lewis Johnston and Ben Ross headed to Melbourne.

Jason Winderlich heads north

Jason Winderlich has become Brisbane's first PSD pick, gaining him with their third selection. He has signed a $350,000 deal a year for five years which should see him see out his career with the Bears. He will fit in nicely with the midfield, but now the Bears have to clear up two spots on the list, maybe involving draft picks.

Looking to trade 3 for 1s or 4 for 2s or at least 2 for 1s involving picks/players. If you like a player on the list (That isn't one of my gun youngsters), than offer up, I need to get rid of a few spots :)

J. Bennell, Blair, Dick, Salter and Toovey all up for trade amongst others.

Room cleared up as Bears welcome Cook and Maxwell

Lucas Cook and Nick Maxwell have joined the Bears in trades that saw Alan Toovey, Lindsay Thomas and Cameron O'Shea leave the Gabba along with Picks 44 and 54. This allows space for the Bears to bid on a couple of uncontracted players and/or take PSD picks.

Massive couple of days as players fly both in and out

Brisbane has welcomed Matthew Stokes, Dale Thomas and Claye Beams while saying goodbye to newly recruited Lucas Cook, Angus Litherland, Luke Power, Nathan Fyfe and Marc Lock along with Pick 30 in order to save some list space and cap room.

Tom Young joins Bears

Brisbane has picked up former Warthog Tom Young with their second PSD pick, offering him a spot on their senior list. Tom is believed to have signed a three year $113,000 contract and will be seeing much more game time in 2011.
