Wasn't it disappointing that McManus hardly touched the ball on the weekend? So few opportunities to boo him.

Not nice! Although Schell copped a mouth full he is LOOOOOONGGG GONNEE!!

Both McManus and Schell deserve all they get from their supporters.
Well at least Schell kicked a goal. And what a convincing goal it was too... (Why the @%# did he play on?!?!)

schell and macca both try their hardest i'm sure and the fact that we boo them on every chance just says wat kind of supporters we are how would u feel if u were out there tryin ur hardest and everyone booing u i know i wouldn't like being booed if i was tryin hard

Not saying they didnt try hard...just saying theyre not good enough. Although I think Schell deserves more of a chance...
But as for Shaun... well i think he could be playing WAFL next season....

Couldn't agree with you more dockerbabe, have just been talking about it myself. Wouldn't do much for their confidence. I was shocked by the 'abuse' some players received on Sunday.

Its really not that bad at the games.
They dont cop anywhere near as much abuse as Gehrig used to cop.

You reckon? I thought it was pretty bad from where I was sitting!!
Have to disagree with you on the Gehrig comment too. I admit he copped alot, but nothing like Bandy on Sunday.

Well said dockerbabe. If anyone has a go at our own players in my hearing at Eagle games, I have a right go at them. I haven't heard too much of that since I got back to WA, but Ball, Gehrig and Symmons were, I felt, unfairly maligned in the past. Can't comment on Docker games except for the derbies as I don't go.

If only

If only the supporters who bag Macca had half the courage he has.Oh how easy it is to bag players when they can't defend themselves.I bet they would run like scared cats if confronted by Macca.Get off the guys case and give him some support. If not P!ss of and go and join the wet toast.
Well done Dockerbabe stick to your guns we need more supporters like you.

I think we have every right to boo McManus... He gets a &@^&load of money for doing what he does. Now if I was him I'd expect to get booed too. If this booing from what I'd call a minority of the crowd puts him off his game and hurts him deeply then simply he isnt cut out for the caper. Surely he must realise from the booing he gets that he's not doing a good enough job and if so, he should be working on his skills day in, day out. (And if you say he is already doing this...well its not making any difference is it...maybe he's just simply not good enough) But if he does come good, then obviously people will stop booing him.
If I was a doctor earning ridiculous amounts of money, and yet I was terrible at my job I'd expect some criticism too. (yes...even if i was trying hard)

That is the greatest load of crap I have ever heard in my life.Go follow some other team and leave us alone.

Oh sorry. Yes Shaun McManus is the best footballer going round at the moment, especially with those sublime skills of his. Lets extend his contract until 2010 and raise his salary to 1 mil a year.

Come on...this isnt the Primary School Tunnelball Championships here...we can only keep encouraging people for so long. If his mental strength is in fact that of an 8 year old's, which causes him to totally lose it if anyone criticises him, then competitive sport is not for him.

have u ever seen macca or any other player go off at their supporters for havin a go at them?
i certainly haven't which means that macca can take the critism
but it certainly does nothing for his confidence same with schell

Dim wit

You treally are a dim wit Spurter. You talk about mentality and strength, what a laugh. The dribble you put on this board is the the dribble of a three year old{and that maybe doing three year olds a disservice}.Strength in our team will only come when we all pull together and support our team.Dim wits like yopu we don't need.As i said go and annoy some one else and keep your inane comments to yourself.

I thought someone else would have asked this question by now...but they haven't.
So... who the hell is Spurter??

Well you don't have to be Einstein to work out he means you champ.

And to be honest, I agree with Anchor Man, whilst at times I get frustrated I support my team through thick and thin, to a man - personally, if you think whining, bitching and abuse of players is the way to go about it, there is another team in town, wearing yellow and blue, that I am sure would welcome you with open arms - and from your attitude, you'll fit right in.

Yea....Come and join the Eagles Esperito. You will be accepted by us as will your views. We all have our own views and we Eagles enjoy debating them and respect each others viewpoints. No way would we be telling any of our guys to go and join Freo.
Come over to the Eagles board and enjoy being with a great group of supporters.

I do support my team.
This is why I want McManus out! This is what I truly believe is best for the club. You can't say I don't support my team just because I dislike 1 player. I really don't have any problems with anyone else in the dockers. This is Me vs McManus, not Me vs Dockers.

Anchor Man. You seem very quick to dismiss anything which you don't agree with, or anything which even slightly criticises your beloved Dockers. Seeing as though they are the worst team in the competition at the moment, SURELY they deserve some criticism. But I haven't even done that. I've criticised ONE player, and you've called me a dimwit, you tell me I write 'dribble'--hardly a constructive reply.
I know dumping McManus won't even nearly solve all the Dockers woes, but it will go a long way to helping them shrug their tag of the laughing stock of the AFL.

What sort of Freo fans are there here that are telling each other to be Eagles fans. God, we need more supporters not less. And all can have their say without being told their not wanted here :(

Don't Need it

Spurter if you can't see what is wrong with the childish habit of booing the players in your team then there is little hope for you.Today it is one player you boo tomorrow it is two and so on and so forth.
I don't dismiss things that I disagree with only foolish and childish things like you are talking about.I agree that at the moment we are the worst team in the competition but to boo our players?!!!!how is that going to help??If this is you versus Macca then tell him face to face and not here on this or any other board.Oh and by the way when you arrange the meeting please let me know so that I can be there.
Modra yes we need SUPPORTERS but not the type who boo the players.Heaven forbid that anyone who boos their team call themselves a supporter.
Any way if he went down to the Toasters he would be the only one making a noise and be told to be quiet.

Passionate Ones, thats what sort of fans!

Tell me - do you agree with abusing your own teams players? Like anyone, there are some I respect greatly, and some I dont rexpect much at all - but I sure don't go to the footy and abuse them - I am a SUPPORTER and by defintion, I support.

I agree, we do need more supporters - and supporting doesnt mean abusing one's own players at gamnes - that by defination - isnt supporting!

Look, it is one thing to come on the 'net and say "McManus sucks" or whatever, thats fine, open to debate - but to openly admit or look forward to going to games, to shout abuse at players on your own team, well thats ridiculous, and very 'wet toast' like - do I need to remind you of say Peter Sumich and Fraser Gherig, to name but two?

I don't know about Gehrig but I supported WCE before Freo came along and I never heard Sumich abused.
I also can't see where anyone has 'looked forward' to abusing people. In fact anchor man says "Heaven forbid that anyone who boos their team " and Esperito clearly states that he supports Freo and only has a problem with one player. So I think you both are being really unfair and distorting what he is saying.

I also think that there are many supporters of all AFL clubs who have a pet dislike of someone in their club. How do you voice that dislike? Booing is one way, not my way but I respect other peoples ways of doing things.

And you keep on about West Coast as if you care more about them doing bad than Freo going good. Forget them.
They have a heap of good supporters just like us and other clubs. Some will Boo, some will cheer crazily, it takes all sorts.

I'd love to see a Freo v WCE grand final with us winning.

With all due respect - and I mean this with no mailice - but how old are you? If you have no memory of the papers, the crowds, talk back radio etc etc bagging hell out of Suma, then you must be fairly young I'd wager!

Well the first post on this thread reads:

Wasn't it disappointing that McManus hardly touched the ball on the weekend? So few opportunities to boo him.

Thats pretty hard to distort don't you think? And how am I being unfair if I dont agree with the position of booing - I'm not sure how having an opinion can be unfair anyway?

I also think that there are many supporters of all AFL clubs who have a pet dislike of someone in their club. How do you voice that dislike? Booing is one way, not my way but I respect other peoples ways of doing things.

Well I respect other peoples opinions, but I dont support peoples actions booing their own teams players - never have and never will - what is their to respect about that?

And you keep on about West Coast as if you care more about them doing bad than Freo going good. Forget them.

Please - whilst I have no problem at all seeing them lose, i could care less at the end of the day, I used them as an example of a club that has a history of ragging their own, thats all.

I'd love to see a Freo v WCE grand final with us winning.

Who Wouldn't? :D

Ok. I am a supporter. I don't like a particular player. I think he should be dumped from the club. There is not ONE single thing I can do about this as I have no influence in the goings-on of the Fremantle Football Club whatsoever.
Does anyone seriously believe if I wrote a letter to them, that after reading it they'd spring into action, make some phone calls, pull a few strings and dump him for me? I hardly think so.
Ok, someone suggested a personal meeting with Shaun McManus himself. Obviously this could never happen, but let's say it did.
I say, "Shaun, I think you should leave the club immediately because I feel you are dragging the team down."
He says, "No."
Meeting over.
Alright...next I could try cheering. Then I reconsider. Do I really want to be cheering someone earning possibly $300 000 a year to drop simple chest marks and frequently kick off the side of his boot? Probably not.
So what's left then? Ahh..that's it. Do nothing.
Just be content where we are as a football club and where he is as a player and just do nothing. I wonder to myself where this approach will take us, and has taken us in the past. Backwards sprung to mind. Then, looking at the ladder, I realise the future is rosy because we can't possibly go backward any more.
