This Melbourne band is fantastic! :thumbsu:

I'd seen their name bandied about in random threads around here and it always piqued my interest.. Some time ago I heard Black and White Radio and thought it was cool..

I never made any effort to check out any further material though..

Getting closer to BDO and the only band I'm really into is Arcade Fire so I get the British India album Guilotine (spelling?) and check it out as Black and White Radio appealed to me alot more then most other singles I'd heard from other bands.

..and Wow!

I have a new favourite Australian band.

Anyone who is looking for a local act to get behind check this album out..

Whats British India like live?

I quite like them, though I've only heard one album (Guillotine). I saw them at the East Brunswick Club in August - the show went off! So much raw energy, bouncing around the stage, lots of communication with the crowd (who were also full of energy), the guys showing lots of passion for their songs - it was great.

If you like this band then I suggest you get the Counter Culture Ep from 2005 - very good. Got onto them after seeing them at Meredith a couple of years ago. For a bunch of kids, they're a great live band.

JJJ darlings though, so they're easily knocked in some cooler circles...

Went to the Adelaide Uni O'Ball just to see them. Every song i have heard by them, i have enjoyed. Even the songs that aren't quite as good as the others have parts to them which i really like. Council Flat is my favourite song at the moment.

I was thinking of starting this thread too. Go off live, the guitarist is so energetic, and one hell of a player. Very young, but they're releasing their 2nd album in late June. There is absolutely no filler on their debut, every song is unique in some way and worthy of being on there. I was just a little put off when I found out they were private catholic schoolboys. But still the best Australian album of 2007 by far.

saw them up here a couple of weeks ago, really really good:thumbsu:

Why would that dissapoint you? Why does it matter what school they went to? This might dissapoint you even more: They were all school captains, nerds!

I go back and forth them. Undoubtedly, they write great songs, and I really enjoyed the first album... However, the lead singer's voice gives me the shits sometimes.

Saw them live midway through last year and they put on a great show, didn't know many of thier songs but there was a lot of energy.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of listening to their album, but will probably check them out live again before too long.

My best mate is obsessed - I do like them but she actually named her shop after their album Guillotine. She hung out with them the other week when they were in Perth. lol.

Clothes! It was originally up markert male and female clothes (not my thing really) but I went past the window the other day and its got some great Pink Floyd shirts now and Rolling Stones as well and stuff that I actually like wearing. (more alternative I suppose)

It just disappoints me, I have a bit of a grudge. No offence if there's anyone on here who went to a private all boys catholic school though. I love Declan's voice, think it's one of the best in rock at the moment.

Nice! :thumbsu:

I was hoping you was going to say the store sold guillotines though. Thought that might have been a bit of a stretch ;)

Haha, don't think St. Bedes quite fits the mould of the puncy little catholic boys school you're thinking of.

Then again, the Jet boys went to school there...

I saw them Live for the second time last night. They put on a great show. One of the best young bands in Australia at the moment for mine. I love their work.
Great things lie ahead i feel.
