One thing I have noticed in the preseason is that we seem to be very much improved in our defensive capabilities especially through the midfield.

If you check the preseason results I think you will find that we have had by far the least points kicked against us.

Broadbridge is the Midfield Coach and is ex Pies assistant. The Pies used to be very good at choking the life out of the top sides.

Thoughts?
 
I hadn't realised but you make a good point. I was glad we added Broadbridge to our coaching panel and hopefully he will be a very influential acquisition.
 
Like I have alluded to many times he is a ready made replacement when Chrissy boy falls off the perch. Not only that he is a better Coach and if the idiots that run your Club had any brains at all they would've realised that and let Connolly's contract run out and give him the job.
 
we should follow your lead with Dean Laidley ....oh thats right you extended him and when was your last finals apperance? I know at least Dean does the best I'm Angry look.

Nah he learnt all he know's at the Black Ducks .........

I was way out of line there Masai. The Black ducks must have taught him a bit but where did he come from?
 
a very astute coach and should have been looked at this time but given the lack of great coaches available will be the next dockers coach when 'ah jadan spas' gets the ahhhhhhse. chris is a tool. how can a list with so much talent cough up absolutely nothing in finals they appear in and then miss last year?

bbgun youre kiddin yourself right?

all the first round pics in the world pre saints and carlton cheating and you cant do squat with them. now the list is topped up with class older players you look half winners. only rd 1 though so good luck. should be better than you guys are given your list 3-5 years ago is comparable to the saints at half way mark of last year, they're already better than you by an absolute mile

tough and talented, not just talented

That is the most ridiculous comment ever.

When judging comparisons, try to look at the whole field, rather than just the youngsters.

I must have missed where we had gehrig and hamill in their prime and a two time brownlow medalist guiding a young hasleby.

i don't understand what you are talking about.
my orginal point was that there is really no such thing as talent. The only way you can judge talent is through watching players play at AFL level and even that is quite questionable way of determining there talent.
Freo do have a lot of first round draft picks, but this doesn't mean that these draft picks are talented footballers. There are plenty of good school boy footballers that just can't cut it a AFL level.
I can think of example of players that i think have shown they have talent at AFL level but have not continued on with it, eg Whitnall
There are other players that are just plain crap but look good because they play in a good team
