Who's been, and would you recommend it?

Looking to go for a week, in a fortnight's time. Any experience/advice/local knowledge would be appreciated. (Looking to stay at Cable Beach resort)

Loved the couple of times have been there
Will be hot and humid winter is the best time to go 28 degrees,no clouds, lots of beautiful girls etc
Try town beach cafe.Fishing off the jetty use a lot of sinkers,if you are lucky you might catch a bluebone fantastic eating
Malcolm Douglas's croc park is a good afternoon
Sunset on Cable beach is something you have to do
Look for luggers tourism spot where you here the old stories about Broome's pearling industry
Other things to do are Winjana gorge tour, deep sea fishing,Willie Creek pearl farm tour
enough already?:D

Mate of mine recently had to pull a shotgun on a group of locals who were laying into his two mates in Broome.

True story!

The alleged Peter Falconio killer was a mechanic in Broome before he was detained.

Love to go there and dive for a pearl.

What kind of holiday are you looking for???? It's probably a bit dif to what you may think. Cable beach is unreal. Broome is a good base for doing other activities....i.e. going into the kimberleys 4wding, boat trips etc etc. But i wouldn't just want to stay there for a week....you need to get out and about away from Broome as there isn't a great deal to do in the town.

Criteria is somewhere hot, with a nice beach, and within a 4hr flight.

On a normal beach holiday trip, I would go fishing, on a cruise, snorkelling/S.C.U.B.A etc and generally sit by the pool and drink cocktails. I need a relaxing week off, as I'm changing jobs and need to do chill out before I start my new job.

Northern Beaches of Cairns EG Palm Cove are cheaper and closer. Stay at Cable Beach if you go to Broome, Broome itself isn't much. Ex Hawthorn coach owns the shop in CB and the Pubs OK

Well with that criteria you should love it as cable beach is incredible. Good fishing charters. Great place to relax (it's not crazy busy). Its bloody hot. Just wanted to make sure you weren't expecting an actioned packed town.

Great place................mostly.

Stayed at Cable Beach Club a few times...........it really is the only place to stay IMO.

Cable Beach is sensational..........sand, water, rocks, sunsets are beautiful.
Take a trip out on one of the old ships at sunset..........magnificent.
Croc Park is ok if thats your thing.
Plenty of 4wd adventures..................if you are that way inclined & have a couple of days to do bugger all...........head up to Cape Leveque. Truly wonderful spot.........well worth the drive.
If you wanna go fishing on a charter..........goto the tackle store in town for a bit of local knowledge............either go up the creeks/inlets or out on the blue water.............

Wouldnt spend a lot of time in the town itself if i were you.............by all means go & check it out but you will find it is very very touristy with lots of gift shops selling crap 'Australiana'..........check out the pearl shops though.........worth seeing just to make you realise how poor you are lol.

Highly recommend.
