Just been on nicks and someone over there suggested Browny may be a chance to play this week and they are basing it on the fact that B Hart on sen said that browny has come up better than expected.

Has anyone heard anything this and surely we would not risk him so soon after tweaking his knee against the Lions.

No Chance

We will not make the same mistake as last year

Clubs goal is to have our best 22 available when finals hit need to manage players as the game is alot different then 2-3 years ago

THIS IS WHY GEELONG WON THE FLAG

He's missed one week, so no chance based on the initial assessment that it was a 2-4 games (not weeks) injury.

But you never know, if he trained strongly you'd almost have to select him.

We will not take such a risk.

He is far too important.

No chance of playing this week even if he did tick all the boxes. Leave him until after the bye, where he should be cherry ripe along with Swanny, Reid and Taz.

hart's just throwing it out there. can't help to put a little doubt in the opposition's mind no matter how meaningless the advantage could be. if he's a chance, say he may be a chance. if he isn't really, say he may be a chance.
i know some supporters get annoyed at this though.

I'd rather him miss this week. If we are honest, a win this week is going to be difficult so have him come back against Gold Coast.
Agree completely no need to risk him even if he has come up better than expected,if it were a game on which our season rested maybe we would roll the dice but not for rd 9.

I was amazed and delighted with the progress he is making Hart also said that Taz will have 2 games in the 2s before they will pick him so it does not look likely either Browny or Taz will be playing this weekend and we will have to go with Keeffie and someone else.

I don't expect to see Swan, Brown, Reid or Taz until the Weagles in round 13. They're not right this week and they're not needed against Melbourne and Gold Coast.

I'd play Brown against the Gold Coast if he's fit.

Taz against the Demons.

Reid & Swan against the Eagles.

You can't afford to be adding 4 blokes against the Eagles that haven't play footy for 5 weeks.

Agreed,

Also, wouldn't want to drop an 'easy' game against Melbourne or GC with a VFL team full of four stars... You can't really take anyone lightly.

My thoughts too. Happy to see him back after the bye. If we get 2 wins out of 3 I think we'll be ok.

This is crazy talk. If they're right to go play them.

Taz is not injued so why keep him out of the side for another 5 weeks? Happy to give him another week, two max but 5 weeks is overkill IMO.

Swan has a low grade hammy strain so delaying his return until rd 13 would mean no footy for 5 weeks which would be more of a hinderance than an advantage.

Same with N.Brown. Low grade twinge. With no pre-season he needs all the game time he can get.

No easy games this year so cant afford to flurt with form by keeping quality players out when they are ready to go.

I'd be resting everyone this week.

We're basically no chance anyway, we'll still be 6-3 coming into 4 very winnable games and a break.

Media won't jump on us much like they jumped off after the Carlton game. Will be a blessing in a horrible disguise.

Rest Pendles too.

i personally would be resting brown, swan and reid till round 12. make sure they r ready 100%. this week will be hard but afterwards we have melbourne and gold coast and then the bye. so at worst we should turn the half way mark at 8-3

May as well pack it all in and rest everyone until next year then, play the kids and get some draft picks.

If we're no chance this week then we're no chance at all. Yes we have key players out and will definitely not be favourites, but saying we're no chance is beyond pessimistic.

I remember a few games in recent years against the Crows where we were basically no chance to win, and we won all of them.

  1. 2008 Elimination Final in Adelaide
  2. 2009 Semi-Final with injuries and got thumped in first 1.5 quarters
  3. 2011 Round 9 when down by about 4 goals early in the last quarter
I just hope the players and coaches don't consider us no chance, or we definitely won't be.

For what it's worth, if Taz came up fine after last week's VFL match I'd play him this week. I can't see why they wouldn't if he's fit and with Reid out unless they think they don't need him with Walker not playing.

I had this posted on a facebook supercoach page, thought there may be more talk of it on here, do u think brown may go? do u think anyone will?

Some big news coming out of Collingwood today. Nathan Buckley has ruled out full back Chris Tarrent for a return this weekend against an in form Adelaide outfit, despite his incredible game in the VFL returning from a calf injury, but that's not all.

With key defenders Chris Tarrent, Nathan Brown, Ben Reid, forwards Andrew Krakour and Brent McCaffer and key midfielders Luke Ball and Dane Swan on the sidelines, Collingwood are readily organizing for part of that group to head over to Arizona for high altitude training.

It comes as coincidence given this time last year, swan was sent over to the states to fast track a soft tissue injury he sustained in the first half of 2011.

With the Premiership window wide open still for Collingwood, CEO Gary Pert is intent on sending key players Swan, Tarrent, brown and Reid to Arizona as early as this week to attend high altitude training to fast track injuries the quartet have sustained in the first half of 2012.

Collingwood face the Crows, Gold Coast and Melbourne before their round 12 bye. It is understood that those players will undergo 2-3 weeks of altitude training in a bid to recover in time for the second half of the season.

Collingwood however this year have unearthed key backman Lachlan Keefe, who has so far played every game this season. He will now have to shoulder the responsibilities with the pies 3 key backman on the sidelines.

Buckley is optimistic that the pies can match the crows even without their 3 best defenders, and last years reigning medalist Dane Swan.

He says that players such as Steele Sidebottom, Dayne Beams, Sharrod Wellingham, Ben Sinclair, Lachy Keefe and Jarryd Blair have really stepped up this year and have shown they are capable of more responsibility.

It is understood the cost to send players to Arizona for specialized altitude training is $30,000 per player.

Dane Swan recorded a record winning margin last year, winning the brownlow whilst polling more votes than any other winner in the browlow's history.
