Your'e probably having a crack at me, well and good,
I reckon he's bludging out there at the moment.

I'm not having a go at any one person I'm having my say. Some supporters think he should be dropped, others don't. I don't think he should. He is only 20 and to me I don't see it being as bigger deal and some others. We all want to see him do well and he's just struggling a bit. He'll turn it around!!

No doubt, he's yards better than the last couple of weeks, just reckon if you look at his numbers, he's kinda kachinging his way through games lately. :)

His numbers stack up, but there's no substance.

Our midfield dont seem to have the time and space that all the other good sides have to dispose of the ball.

This is because we refuse to block, shephard or run to support the ball carrier which means everytime Gibbs, Murph and Judd are getting the ball they are under real pressure and when they are clear they are affected by referred or perceived pressure which is causing most of their kicking errors.

This combined with no real targets up forward are a major worry for us, the guys you would expect to block or shepherd are usually the ones in the back ground jogging or bent over with hands on knees because they cant keep up with the pace of todays game....Carrazzo, Robinson, Houlihan, Scotland etc.

Would trade him in a heart beat for a Forward KPP.
Make sure we get one that is capable of kicking plenty of goals with very poor disposal coming his way, preferably able to beat 3 opponents, and very, very good below his kneew because he'll need to creat most of his own goals.

Oh, and while I'm at it he shouldn't be afraid to run through a teamate to remind him who is the tall leading marking player, and who is the small crumbing forward. He should also remind this small, that if you have no confidence with your set shot kicking, STOP leading into the good space, put a block on, or better still hit the front of the pack at pace for the crumb. ;)
Our midfield is one of our areas on the ground where we have a multitude of options.
Options? Such as..........We have only got 1 elite kick in our team. Scotland. You would seriously try to fix or problems by getting rid of one of two or three others on our list that could potentially join him?

Name 1 other midfielder (Yarran does not count ATM) that is an elite kick?

We have never blocked around stoppages all that well, but we usually spread well from stoppages and have run from behind. Our disposal effiency has dropped though meaning that the ball comes back over your head quickly, meaning the next time you are less confident to leave your man to run and support.

It all starts with winning the ball, spreading well and using it well (combination of skill and decision making)........the turnovers are killing us ATM and it filters down through all facets of the game where you don't want to get caught out so you become reactive.

The loss of Kreuzer at the stoppages may well have been underestimated as well, and we haven't adjusted. While he may not have won a lot of contested footy, he competed, caused spills, blocked etc, and he also ran hard into defence to help out the backs (ala the way he did his knee).
He also ran to link up in the middle well.

Bigger loss than his pure numbers would indicate.

Personally I was more dissapointed with Gibbs today than any other player. Goodes is too good for him, the only time he played well on him Goodes was carring an injury.

Seems to wait for cheap kicks and rarely shows heart.

Not his first poor outing this year either.

A week in a twos may do him some good??

I copped a heap of flack for suggesting that he should have a week in the two's last week, i'm glad that i'm not the only one that thinks he needs a kickup the backside.

Bryce Gibbs totally depicts why Carlton are so bad at the moment.

I loved this kid, has the talent to be anything. But he is playing like a bloke who is more interested in collecting stats than actually playing for the team.

He does not get the hard footy. He collects easy touches in the back line. He does not take the game on like he was doing last year. He refuses to chase and shepard.

What the hell has happened to him?

Yesterday, last quarter - he gets the ball in defensive 50m, he handballs to the running Carlton player - but does not bother to even attempt to shepard the 2 Swans players chasing.

We need to go watch Collingwood play. The play for the team, we play for ourselves.

I am disgusted!

Exactly :footy:

I've always said that stats don't do Kreuzer justice or really show what he provides.

He's a massive loss IMO.

As for Gibbs, well.. he's not the only one, but he should be standing up. But instead he's one of the worst culprits ATM in regards to pressure, intensity and workrate etc, which is a real shame.
I don't know what's up with him but I hope he turns it around real fast (and the rest of the team for that matter).

I can recall Riewoldt having the yips in 2006, so Gibbs' disposal isn't a worry.

Our best players having shockers might be more a case of the players not embracing the game plan.

Or being confused by their roles.

Gibbs shouldn't be tagging.

If Ratten ran a Tour De France team, we'd probably see Lance Armstrong leading the peloton and doing all the grunt work for the hacks in that team.

Jacobs isn't a patch on Kreuzer, Hampson and Warnock at getting back and helping out the backline.

Lacks the pace and mobility to do that after being caught out by the Dogs quick ball movement.

Stand up Eddie Betts.

Players inevitably go through form slumps. He's just re signed and some consider him to be a future leader of some sought.

He will snap out of it because he is a quality player. The thing that is shitting me is I'm sick of him playing in the backline. The whole point of that move was to take advantage of his disposal and that is working against the team at the moment.

Put him back where he belongs in the middle and leave him there. Wouldn't surprise me if we see a swift turn around. We have too many mid sized defenders camped in our backline as it is.

I'm willing to keep backing Ratts at this point but he said again on 'on the couch' that Gibbs will stay back for the time being.

I ask, whats the point to this Ratts? Put the guy where he plays best and maybe he'll play better footy.

cant wait till gibbsy and murph put in a good performance and all these people bagging them and asking for them to be dropped will be saying what champs they are.

The simple fact is, Carlton are a team playing with no confidence. All they need is a week or two of good footy and they will come good again. This game is 90% in the head. It is the reason for gibbsy's poor disposal and the teams poor disposal in general.

I know a lot of people will argue this, but he'd be one of the first I'd drop. Not acceptable. He needs to be reminded that he's not untouchable. Some of his efforts off the ball today were disgusting.
i agree with you
he needs to be dropped, the carlton muppets are playing as if they know they have got a game next week already. make a statement, drop gibbs

Gibbs best work is in the guts in the middle. His a Craig Bradley type who really isn't that tough of a player just knows how to read the ball and run.I think Patrick Dangerfield in the long run will be a better player as he has more strings to his game.We should do everything possible to get Dangerfield to Carlton when his contract is up.We should trade Russell a Ruckman and good pick for him.
