There was an interview with Scott Watters today.

He said that he and Nathan Buckley had a phone call a few days ago and discussed match ups and tactics (paraphrased, of course). It was quite funny, really.
Gerard and Robbo on 360 did not make a big deal of it but Robbo made an off-handed comment that maybe they were discussing if they'd make it "an under 23s game or and over 23s game", etc. so, he was saying that maybe they've discussed what kind of game they want it to be.

Could this be why Ceglar and Cloke were pulled out of the side? No match ups? Or didn't suit what Watters n bucks wanted the game to be?

Well probably show the Result in this Game Means Nothing to the Coaches as they ring each other and told each other who is Playing and what they want to do

No doubt about that. None at all.

Unfortunately, given what happened last weekend, can't say the same for some of our more panicky supporters here - who are likely to post stuff like how our season is totally ruined should we happen to "lose" in a game thats only about preparation and nothing else.

Gee prof, who could you be referring to?

We sure have been Blessed by their presence these past few weeks :D

Hahahaha...... Subtle.

Yer, I'm getting a bit sick of the negativity around here to be honest. I feel like there's be more positive comments about our players on the saint kilda board some times...

With regards to the OP, apparently that is pretty common in these non-NAB Cup praccy matches.
Paul Roos said on On The Couch, the other night, that when he was coaching Sydney he would regularly get in contact with whoever was coaching the team they were playing that week (for these games), to discuss how the match was going to be played, etc.
For example, if one team was going to play a lot of younger ones for a half and more of their "best 22" in the other half and the other team was planning on doing the same, they would arrange to do it in the same half as each other, to get a fairly level playing field and a good level of competition. So both would play the older ones in the first half and then the younger ones in the second, or vice versa.
So obviously the result/score means pretty much nothing, but that doesn't mean how you play means nothing. I dare say both sides will want to see a big improvement in how they go on field, whether they "win" or not. I know we will, after how ordinarily we went against West Coast last week and Sydney in the first game of the NAB Cup.

The negative attitude is on most (if not all) Collingwood forums at the moment. It's a bit depressing to have to have to wade through the crap at the moment.

There's definitely a place for negativity because without it things would get boring very quickly! However too much unwarranted negativity just drags down the whole mood of the board....

As for the comments themselves I'd be shocked if the same didn't occur in our last two matches. Neeld and Bucks are very close plus Sanderson is Bucks' best mate. The impression I've gotten from our matches so far is that the first half is what we're aiming at and then the sting goes out of it in the second half. It'll be interesting to see if theirs a similar pattern to today's game.

On the negativity front (I consider myself somewhat of an expert), I think after Round 1 is when you'll really see it either ramp up, or die down.

If Hawthorn slaughter us, and we look like basically the same shmozzle that's been playing in the NAB Cup, the board will melt down.

If we beat Hawthorn, the hype could be borderline uncontrollable.

If it's an honourable loss, everyone will be quietly confident.

in 2010 no one thought we were a top 6 side.
I know early on I wrote off a few players. Last year the media were tipping Geelong & Collingwood to drop off & the doggies & St. Kilda to take the next step.

While the pre-season hasn't been great, YOU DO NOT WIN FLAGS IN MARCH.

.

Um, no they weren't. We were ridiculous flag favourites from 01/01/2011 through to the week before the grand final.
