COMMENTATOR Nathan Buckley has continued his stinging criticism of Brendan Fevola, accusing the Carlton full-forward of playing too much for himself.

Unimpressed with Fevola's defence of his actions immediately after the loss to St Kilda at the MCG on Friday night, Buckley emphasised his point of view yesterday on Channel Seven.

Buckley, a Brownlow medallist and former Collingwood captain, was commentating on Friday night's game when he made clear his disapproval about Fevola's apparent mood after the final siren.

Fevola happily mixed with Saints on the field and said yesterday he was "pretty disappointed" that Buckley had criticised his conduct.

But Buckley did not hold back again yesterday on Seven's AFL Game Day program.

"It's not a competitive thing to do and I was disappointed with what I saw from 'Fev' on the night," Buckley said.

"What we saw on camera was only a snapshot of what I was viewing — he actually went over and basically hugged every St Kilda player.

"I don't know how good a mate he is with Robert Harvey, but he hugged him.

"For me, his good is too good and his bad is too bad and he's playing for Brendan Fevola too much."

It has been an eventful weekend for Fevola, who had a poor game on Friday night.

He rang Melbourne radio station Triple M on Saturday to defend himself against Buckley's comments and also to scotch rampant speculation that he might leave Carlton.

Fevola is in the middle of contract negotiations and Carlton coach Brett Ratten has made it clear the club is prepared to offer players only so much money.

"I'm sure Brett Ratten wouldn't be happy with the body language he saw from his spearhead," Buckley said.

"But I suppose you know what you get from Brendan Fevola and Carlton would know that more than any — his best is very good and his worst is pretty bad.

"You've got to work that out when you're talking about contracts."

I agree with Buckleys sentiments, whilst the game is over and the scoreline cant be altered, generally you would assume there would / should have been a huge amount of disappointment with a loss in such a big game.

Sure shake an opponents hand but to hug, smile and joke its almost as though the loss and his sh*thouse performance didnt matter to him (l would like to think it did). After all we were playing off got a spot in the eight.

Nathan Buckley should Mind his own business :thumbsd: If Fev wants to hug or shake oposition supporters hands like what he did v richmond Let him buckley should worry about his former Collywobbles side ;) keep it up Fev don't take any shit from Buckley :thumbsu:

For those hell-bent on keeping Fev, you need to understand this is what you get with him.

He is NOT a great leader, team player or consummate professional.

He is a prodigiously talented, match-winning player, no doubt, but his attitude is not what you would want.

It was nothing like what he did with the Tiges.

He shook some hands, sought out Polak to check on his ribs, and walked off with the team. Didn't go to every Tiges player, and didn't smile and hug them as he came off.

He went to almost EVERY Saints player, hugged each one like a teamate, had a grin on his face as he walked off......with the Saints, arm in arm.

As he caught up with his teamates, Fev began to remove his jumper.

WTF? I suppose you think this is normal as well? Fev's subconscious taking control maybe?

He stopped, caught up with Judd who flicked a hand towards him (bum tap style)......no hugs, no smiles.......the way you should look when your season has just been ended by a team you haven't beaten for 6 years.

I'm not saying Fev shouldn't be freinds with the Saints guys......I think it's great that players from other clubs mix so well, and Fev's a sociable chap.

What irked me, Bucks, and many others, is that Fev's reaction after the siren wasn't:

"Well #### it, there goes our year, I did nothing to help that effort, damn it Fev you had a shocker..........I really need to pull my socks up"

i.e. GUTTED.

His reaction was
"Kosi, Milney....great game boys.....geez you really got us again......and Milney, how's about burning Jones as you ran into goal there mate........not good...ha ha...........Maxy......got me again mate, well done......ha ha."

i.e Jovial.

Cloke looked gutted. Judd was sombre.......these are the appropriate reactions after such a critical loss.

Given the spotlight he is under, he should have known better.

Why come out on Saturday on MMM and talk about the Sydney rumours.

If he was going to come out and commit to the club and say he is sick of the talk, SIGN THE ####ING CONTRACT AND END THIS NOW.

I'm happy for Fev to stay, but I wouldn't be upset if we trade him.

He needs to sign, show some maturity and leadership to the young guys and say
"I have signed for less than what I would have got at Sydney, so that I could stay here and win a flag with you, that's what's important to me".

Well Fev certainly did no favours with the Carlton faithful... give me one Carlton supporter that actually likes Milne!!! How could he publicly show us affection towards Milne, it was awful.

I really admit that Fev on friday lost a lot of credits in my bank, and at this stage I really aint fussed if we keep him, or trade him. To me my focus will be on committed players to the Blues like Gibbs, Murphy, Waite, Hampson and co!

I get the feeling Ratten, Swan and Icke aren't overly impressed either and wouldn't be surprised if they may have now decided to make enquiries about what other teams may offer us for him.

will people please just forget about this already. he was talking/hugging to the opposition AFTER the game. every individual takes defeat and victory for that matter their own way. for instance chris judd won a grand final in 2006 but barely looked amused, while ben cousins carried own right next to him.

my second point is this. if fev kicked 6 and we lost would this discussion still be going on. i think not. the man is an enigma and while i dont condone poor behaviour our club must realise how important he is to us. despite sitting 2nd on the coleman table we as supporters seem to enjoy to dig the boots in whenever we can. if he was to leave us for sydney or anywhere and we dont get J.Brown (very unlikely) we WILL NOT make the top 8 next yr.

guys like fisher, edwards, hartlett, waite, mckinnley (linked to him) do not consistently kick goals. i doubt very much that any of those mentioned could kick 60+ goals next yr for us at FF

Bit rich coming from Buckley. That bloke is one of the biggest cunzts going around and didn't he walk out on brisbane?

What an ignorant comment. And you are a moderator.
I thought you people were chosen for your balanced insights. :o

His comment was fair. If Bucks can dish it out, he can take it too.

Fev's management ( who also manages other high profile coming out of contract players) is the man behind the scenes here. Why isn't the media scrutiny on him?

Must be fun getting paid shitloads to make whores out of AFL football stars.

Stop pimping and start encouraging our man to sign.

Buckley being full of himself (and why wouldnt he be) doesnt undermine the truth of what he said in this case or what he comments on. he is the only footy commentator I can listen to at the moment.

Fevola deserves a roast for that game and I'm pleased Buckley said it.

Whatever you think of Buckley as a person shouldnt cloud what he says as a commentator.
