Alright, I am intending to build myself a bankroll to play around with online.

Any tips? Good articles to read? Or experiences you guys have had doing it.

one word, Omaha ;)

In all seriousness I probably lost $750US online before I started doing any good, but if there is one thing to take from the above line, it is that their is more than NLHE online.

I personally think the softest poker (on pokerroom at least) is $5 limit HE sng's.
But have a go at other forms of poker in the playrooms, you might find some games suit your style better than others.

If I played solely NLHE, I'd have killed someone by now.

I agree with my man Falchoon. Dont limit yourself to NLHE. Some other points.

* If you are depositing money make sure you do it somewhere with a good bonus that is not so difficult to clear.

* Stay clear of the 0.01/0.02 etc tables. They are fairly similar to freerolls and you can cop a load of bad beats.

* Before you enter a table on a poker room for the first time, sit out 4 or 5 hands and watch how ppl are playing. Nothing worse then getting a great hand 1st up and not knowing what to do with it.

* Try your luck at some freerolls and low buy in tournaments. Sure they are a pain but if you do well in one it can set you up for a while. That $5 tourny I came 2nd in got me through about 2 months of avg. play.

* Be prepared to lose before you win.

Well I have just started building my bankroll. I havent really taken it seriously until the last week. I signed up to PokerChamps maybe 6 months or so ago and played primarily freeroles. The top 28 would get paid at least a buck and finishing first won $5 dollars. Im still yet to win a freeroll as their is usually over 2,000 players but ive placed in the money several times and finished 3rd once.

With my few bucks that I have won I would play the 2 and 4 cent tables to build up my cash. I got my bankroll up to about $5 bucks over time and was bored during the week and decided to enter into a $2.75 buy in tourney. 48 players entered and I proceeded to take it down finishing first and winning $36 bucks.

Then two nights later I entered a $5.50 tourney with 14 players and won that too, back to back wins and another $40 dollars. So now my bankroll is upwards of $70 odd dollars. So im well happy with that and I plan to continue to play these little 2.75 and 5.50 buy in tourneys as I consider myself to be a solid tight aggressive player that can win these small tourneys.

But ill see how I go...

The most important thing to remember is don't play drunk. I lost mostof my small bankroll playing after coming home from drinking sesions. Just don't do it.
