News from the intra-club match:

http://www.northernbullants.com.au/pages/home.php

A number of youngsters impressed during the Northern Bullants first internal trial match last Friday evening. With a squad of over 60 having to be reduced to a final list of 45, the match was competitive with a few highlights.Of the new players to the Bullants, there were a number of players who demonstrated that they were far from out of their depth.
Ryan Gale: The West Australian, having been playing for Claremont in the WAFL, was handy roaming across half-forward taking a number of telling marks. A good sized player, Gale will certainly be a handy tall utility.
Ahmed Saad: Perhaps the most impressive was this Roxburgh Park youngster who has only played football for a few years. The small forward was ultra-lively around goal and showed the composure of an experienced footballer.

Wes Bilney: Wes will not have to go far for advice if he makes it onto the Bullants list as cousin Eddie Betts will be around Visy Park. Like Saad, Bilney is a livewire around goal and has a bag of tricks up his sleeve. From West Adelaide.
Carl Groth: Originally from Wangaratta, this strongly built midfielder has been playing for NFL club Lalor. Showed tenacity at the contest and looks a likely type.
Shaun Austin: Originally from Canberra, Austin has done two previous pre-seasons with the Northern Bullants before deciding to play at Greensborough in the NFL. Looking fitter than in the past, it appears the strong on-baller is keen to test himself at the VFL level.

Despite a number of last year's list not participating in the trial, two players to demonstrate a marked improvement were Rohan Barraclough and Adrian Totino. Barraclough down back assumed key position roles and fought well. Totino, a runner-up to Matthew Kreuzer in the Morrish Medal just 2 years ago, looks to have benefitted from the pre-season and was displaying his ability around the contested ball.
For the record, Martin Pike's led team won by 4 goals, giving the ex-Brisbane Lions champ his first win for the season, albeit a very much informal one.

Pre-season training will continue at Visy Park each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5.45pm. The first scheduled practice match is yet to be confirmed but will be held against Box Hill on either the 7th or 8th March. However, there is a chance for an earlier match, info when available will be available on northernbullants.com.au

Somebody fetch the restraints for HBF

Totino would have to be a certainty to make it onto the Carlton list now! :D
I'm just pleased that he has remained at the Bullants, and showing some signs of improvement in his development.

Might see you out there at the practice match Gilly. I recall Shaun Grigg getting leather poisoning the first time I saw him in one of these matches. :thumbsu:
