hey guys just wondering if anyone had any info on the bullants practice game on the weekend against box hill.

Who played from carlton and who played well?

cheers

Bullants were outsized and out-manned by a Box hill side including, Roughead, Dowler, Thorp (although he limped off injured in the 2nd quarter), ex-bullant Morrell and also Jordan Lewis, Josh Kennedy, Ben McGlynn,...probably a couple of others i have forgotten.

Carlton listed players for us included, Jacobs, Anderson, Hill, Joseph, Shields, and that's about it. No Austin, Saddington, basically left the Bullants top up players, including some Northern Knights boys from last year (e.g. Liam O'Donnell) to man up the experienced Hawks talls. We kept with them up until half time but the Hawks were bigger, stronger, more experienced, quicker and ran a lot harder and ran out 9 goal winners.

for us i was Jacobs continues to make progress.....doesn't posses a huge leap but he stands his ground and is very hard to muscle out of the ruck contests.....continues to present more around the ground, but for mine, still needs some work on his overhead marking and providing more of a presence around the ground....encouraging signs though. Joey provided good run out of defense although at times he seemed to be too conscious of his opponent, running in circles and buying himself time as opposed to the straight line dash out of defense we saw last year.....could just need that tad more confidence after coming back from injury, but again good signs. Shields is still learning the game and needs to use his solid frame to exert a bit more aggression, but for a bloke so new to the game again good signs. Both Joseph and Hill had some nice cameo moments.

Cheers Gilly.
Anderson is one guy that hasn't been talked about a lot, and given his start last year, especially vs Dogs, is one I'm hoping can push for a spot.
No Nick Stevens?

NO worries BB.

For mine Joey needs a good 6-7 games in the Ants, developing his confidence in taking blokes on and breaking lines again. He did this a few times on Saturday and this is where he looks his best. Perhaps I am being a tad too critical as the times when he backed off and made space, he may have made the decision that he wasn't going to beat his opponent and had no support for dishing off a handball hence bought himself time. when he did this he did take the right option and his disposal was solid.

No Nick Stevens. was suggested on TC that Stevo played mid-week in a closed intra-club match and given that and the predicted heat on Saturday, and the Thursday Rd1 game that Stevo would be better off rested.

Bentick played in the first half, looked a bit rusty at times, (e.g. handballing to flat footed team mate under pressure), but he did find a bit of the ball.
