Given that Richo is the last key position, ??? , player we as a club developed, what is going on.
Here's a list of recent recruits to our side which , I may be wrong, but would be in our 10 most important ( best ) .
Brown, Tuck, Johnson, Simmons, Polak , that have all been else where.:cool::cool::cool:.

Tuck came through the draft from the SANFL but had been listed with the Hawks for a year.
I would also argue that Richo was not the last KPP that we have developed.
We have been trying to develop Schulz for the last 5 years and if you have a look at Thursty, McGuane, Jack, and Hughes, all are players that will hold down key positions in the future if not already.
We have always had KPPs on the list that we have been trying to develop, we just havent done it very well but the names that we have coming through at the moment are alot better than the Halls and McKees of the past!!

Im not sure what point you are attempting to make, in last years draft we landed both polak and Jack riewoldt, with 10 years ahead of them I would have thought a prudent KPP investment. This year we will take Cale Morton 6"4..spend his first couple of years playing off a wing before developing into a powerful KPP...we're going ok in that regard. :thumbsu:

Since when are Brown, Tuck and Johnson KPP's?

hes talking about players we've traded for/drafted from other clubs that are in our top 10 most important players at the club and not talking about KPP's
The point I am trying to make is that currently a number of our key players currrently at club have been traded for, whilst also trying to point out that we as a club have not had the greatest record in the past 10 years of developing key position players.
Apologises for any mis-interpretation, I agree we do appear to be now on the right track, with Thursfield , Reiweldt etc.
I guess what I was wondering is why have we failed to develop key postion or overall consistantly good players, with C.Newman the only one coming to mind, in the last ten years ?
Is it because our coaches have been on short term contracts and therefore looking for the best short term results without looking long term and developing ??

I think the main reason why we havent really developed our own players is due to trading our picks away in the last 10 years. Most years we wouldnt have a first round pick to use on someone decent and our recruiters werent the best with players after the top 30.
Ottens did play well for us though some may say he didnt do much but he isnt a player who dominates games, he'll have 1 or 2 a season as he did this year with geelong but hes a solid player that is a key for a team to preform.
