I'm sorry, I realise this probably gets done to death on this board, the old "which laptop should I buy"?

But I'm gonna post it anyway, as I want some help.

I'm looking to buy myself a brand new windows laptop, and I will be spending no more than $2,000, preferably about $1400-$1800. I'm a bit of a fan of space, and I'll probably end up storing quite a lot of music and even movies on it, so I guess you could say it is for entertainment purposes. Also, I will be doing this sort of thing on it, going on BF, surfing the net, and I plan for me to really not need this desktop computer I am currently on, anymore, so my laptop will be for all purposes. Also, I plan to eventually be doing some amateurish video editing on it.

I think I've got my head around much of the specs of a computer, however I am not a computer nerd by any means, and any help in choosing will be much appreciated.

The Hp pavilion series has caught my eye in my research on ebay.

Something like this maybe? The specs look good :)

Any brands, models, that anyone can strongly recommend, or maybe recommend not to buy?

Cheers in advance

I just got a Pavilion from Centrecom here in Melbourne. 1600 bucks got me 2.8GHZ, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 512MB nVidia card and 15.4 inch screen. I know it probably isn't exactly what you're after, but I thought that I'd prefer the faster processor and just grab an external HDD if I needed more space. I've experienced no problems with the HP thus far, it's been awesome actually.

Now if only I could find a Keygen for Office 07, I'd be sorted.

i don't like big laptops as a rule, but just a suggestion. look around and make your own decision.

you'll find one person that will tell you not to buy a particular brand. if you are worried get a long warranty.
