I can't believe this guy's back. I hope he's improved his kicking and decision making 150%. Why would they have brought him in ahead of Prismall :confused:
 
Because he gives both forwardline pressure and a useful link up both of which we have been desperately lacking
 
I agree.
We lack leg speed badly
Given a choice between the players available he would provide the best option

Our team has great midfielders and forwards but they lack leg speed

He was part of a winning unit. With Chappers injured he is head and shoulders below our other options but a more significant piece of a winning team. Plus he busts harder than most guys in the VFL.
 
He hardly played that much better than Prissa, just kicked a few goals. Prismalls skills are much better still, but what you gonna do? :(
 
it's weird because lately i've turned the corner with my attitude on burns. Hated him for ages, thought he was just what everyone else here is saying. Shit disposal, decision making is up the arse; all those sort of things.

But now i like the idea of giving him another crack in the side. I see him more as a half decent link up man with lots of speed.
Sounds like he has earnt his spot by playing some good footy in the 2's.

will be keeping an eye on him come saturday night.

The fact that Byrnes was in when we were winning last year, and was out when we lost last week has me thinking maybe he does add a dimension to the team which may extend beyond his inability to kick goals.

If he comes in and lays some tackles and applies some forward line pressure i will be happy.

I suspect you're right about that but it doesnt change the fact that Geelong has struggled for inside 50s and then keeping the ball in its scoring zone particularly in this past month.

As well as Byrnes the return of Varcoe last week is a further indication Geelong are concerned about the same thing. We need guys playing as small forwards who play that position regularly and understand the nature of how that position is played.

Byrnes is a small forward is he? Considering his conversion rate is about 20%, he's not even very good at that. As a forward, I'd take Vegas over Byrnes any day.

His leg speed is over-rated. No use running 100 metres in 11 seconds if you can't dispose of the footy.

Not sure how many chances this guy needs.

Pris will be in a different jumper next year, and I can't blame him one bit.

thats right NONE So STFU and give the kid another chance, Then if hes No good, rubbish him by all means, No one here is inside the club deep enough to know who is injured, or which player has personal problems, or any number of things that can affect a group of young men.

How about been a bit positive and Suporting your TEAM. :mad::mad::mad:
