Im not a Cats fan, but Cameron Mooney pulled off a steller performance tonight. He is confident in the air, strong overhead and very mobile for a big guy.
How do you Cats supporters think he will go this year? Dont be biased, tell me your honest opinion...

Because keep in mind, no King, Ottens or Kingsley tonight, Mooney may see less of the ball when those three giants come back...?

He'll actually see more of the ball because tonight he spent a lot of time deep in the forward line. He's at his best when he has a licence to roam. A very important player for us and is as close to a barometer as we have.

But with King in the ruck, Scarlett and Harley down back and Ottens and Kingsley up forward, where is he likely to play?
How much of the ball are we talking? 20 plus possessions and 8 plus marks?

The role can only be described as "utility". See the Melbourne final last season for a best example. It doesn't have a name in the traditional 18 but it for Mooney it means some rucking, some roving, drifting forward and sweeping back. 20 possessions and 8 marks will be good games for him.

When he's forced to play ruck or CHF or CHB he's usually uncomfortable. Tonight was different but when everyone is back he'll be back to his utility role.

Very well put.
Youre a Cats supporter i take it?

I am a fan of Mooney and it looks like hes more discipllined this year. Hard working player also, always trying his best.
To sum it up, big year expected? Do you know how hes been goin this pre season in praccy matches and time trials etc. I heard he was running hot at the club.

Byy the way, condolences to Lingy. Sad news with the knee

I am.

He's just improved out of sight the Cupidos and Zantucks of this world could do worse than seeing what this bloke has done.

He's a very important player for us and if he has a year as good or better than last we will go a long way.

I thnk CE's description of Cams best role is spt on. He is a Ute.A modern version of a RuckRover Far better as a offensive player allowed to focus on doing something himself than trying to stop others. At his best as a modern, super mid he is very close to most match winning player.
Tonights effort by Cam was top draw. What was really good was his control. The first quarter rucking effort when hje thought hed earned a free only to have it go the other way.Did he go into Three Mile Island mode. No.
He kept it together and in the last he was the "Factor". Well done Cam

Mooney was the difference tonight... absolutely fantastic.... hopefully when Ottens and Kent return to the team, Mooney will be able to play a free role and occasionally drift forward and snag a few like he did tonight... What are the chances that he'll get mobbed tomorrow at the Family day???

Totally agree.

IMO he should have received the Michael Tuck Medal, as I saw him as the difference between the 2 sides.

By the way, conratulations to the Cats and all their fans. Terrific display of character by your boys tonight and it looks like a hell of a good season coming up for Geelong.

Hopefully we can meet again in the granny at the end of the season!! ;)

Very generous sentiments from across the border. If we don't win it I hope you go close.

Only one of the Tuck judges him best afield. Nobody thought Goodwin was best afield, and Bartel and Chapman split votes

2. S Goodwin (Adel)

1. P Chapman (Geel)

ANDREW CAPEL (The Advertiser)

He is a Range Rover :D

As for the Tuck medal I'm stunned GAj never cracked at least one vote. This kid is tough and brilliant. That forearm/elbow he copped early would have quitened most men. His combination with the pit bull terrier was fantastic. More than made up for the lack of tall timber up front.

My 321 votes were Mooney, GAj and PC.

And i would be the first one in line to mob him! :D

Awesome performance. He really stood up for us when we needed him. Needless to say am very happy with choosing his number for my new footy jumper! :thumbsu:

Great stuff, Macca.

Hope we do meet in the big one, if tonight is anything to go by, it would be a great game.

He's quiet isn't he??

I believe last night was the first time i have ever heard Scarlo speak! I was beginning to think he was a mute! :D

(and it is my expert opinion he was really talkin out of his ****** when he said something like they enjoyed coming over here to play Adelaide and they were such a good side!)

I was suprised Enright didn't get a vote - I thought he did a good job. Pretty consistant over all quarters.
