This is a guy i'd like to have running around in blue and yellow next year. I was disappointed we didnt pick him up in 2001 ??

Anyhoo, his contract would be up at the end of this year, and considering the way the hawks are going, he may want to come back home.

He'd be fantastic under woosh

What do we have that the hawks want ?? ... plenty

Thoughts ??

If you mean Campbell Brown he is one player I'd love to have, even if we do have a lot of midfielders. He is awesome. He would step into a backup midfield/half back flanker role with no problems here.

He is a fearsome tackler, puts his body on the line and is definetaly a future leader of a football club.

He would team up perfectly with Chick and the two could rotate through the middle given us two players (ironically ex Hawks) who are very identical in their style.

It would depend what they wanted, but I dont think he would command the biggest trade value because he hasn't been given the great reputation, although it is growing by the week. But the Hawks no the value that Brown gives to them, and he would give them more value than he would give to us, and hence I dont think a trade could be struck because they need him if they are to go forward.

yes indeed, I did mean Campbell, not camereon.

He is a tough nut like his old man. Maybe one of our many ruckman excluding gardiner of course

hawthorn would be mad not to resign him. he is one of their genuine hard players.

thats what I'm thinking - if they want to go forward as a club, they must have him on their list.

He is the type of player that coaches love because he is just always willing to put his body on the line.

If we could get hold of him, I'd be absolutely rapped, but if it didn't happen, I wouldn't be too bothered.

Is he a WA boy by any chance??

Yeh, thats my point. He is a WA Boy (Mal Browns son).

My whole argument hinges on that and the fact that hawthorn are a head case atm. Also His Dad is quite a fan of the Eagles and Woosha.

hmmm maybes the door cracks open abit. anyway, we'll see whath appens at the seasons end. No need to worry about it now, but its always good to keep an eye on players and IMO you have to be open to just about any trade.

IIRC I think I heard a commentator say that the bombers were willing to give two of the three they gave away (Heffernan, Blumfield and Caracella) for Cambell Brown. Whether it is rubbish or not Cambell is certainly rated by a few.

Was Brown born over here in WA or over east? I think Mal Brown worked for Richmond in the 90s so probably did all his schooling over there.

Campbell Brown

We could have picked Campbell up under the father/son rule as Malcolm played 166 games for East Perth. I remember mentioning it at the time (on the East Perth Messgae Board)but the club chose not to. Perhaps a blunder with the value of hindsight.

Father-son rule depends on the player wanting to play for the eligible team. I was under the impression Campbell wasn't interested in leaving Victoria? His entire life was there after all really. It wasn't like there was an emotional attachment to us like there would have been with Cuz, Bryan & Geelong.

It's not up to the club to decide.

The player has the choice. In Ben Cousins case he had three teams he could have played for, Geelong, Fremantle and West Coast.

Can you imagine how many Fremantle supporters would love him if he chose Freo.

Just off topic - I know on Father-Son Rule the player has to be willing.

What about on the old zone picks such as Lewis Robert-Thompson being picked up by the Swans??

I dont think they have any now at all, but say in his case, would it have been just like a normal pick where the player has no say, or would LRT have been the chance to say no because he didn't like the Swans at all??

Mal brown's been based in Victoria for a fair few years now. Calling Campbell a WA boy maybe a stretch. I'm pretty sure he represented Vic Metro at the u/18s.
