So we are nto allowed to point what we think are faults? :thumbsd:

I guess you can. Isn't it pointless though to continue to drone on about it ?

It seems as though us Geelong supporters are consistantly bringing down our own team, either through sources such as this or the Geelong Advertiser. Players see and feel with the community, as we all share the same goals.

Players who pull on the jumper, I'm sure of it, try the best to their ability on the day, Ling has been great his whole career because of it.

The coaching panel may ask him to do other things, is it then his fault that he is playing to the game plan ??

Ling is a great contributor to the team week in week out, whether that is this year or last, we all just have to open our eyes, stop being so pessamistic and move on to support our team.

How can you possibly say that Bartel and Chapman are not leaders. There most would be nobody in the geelong side I would rather have as our captain or vice captain than those two guys

i never said chappy was not a leader, just not captain material. as for bartel, his communication skills need improving.

Let's not forget that King gave 5-6 very good years,Byrnes should not be robbed of that mantle.

Byrnes does need to improve his goal kicking, if he did that he would be a fair player. I love his speed, he has good touch in picking up the ball, just his finishing is a little unpolished.

From here he will struggle against a place in the team with SJ, Stokes, Djerkurra, Gamble, Tenace and a few others all vying for the same place.

King, well a huge amount has been said about our ex-captain. I will suggest that he is really underdone, he isn't as fit nor capable anymore to compete as the number one ruck. So, what should the Cats do about it ??

This is the question we should be answering, not bagging out guys because we are losing. Remember, to concentrate on the negatives will only bring more negatives. It is hard to focus on positives when your mentality is to only pick on the poor traits of another player.

King was a quality ruckman, who maybe in tandem with Ottens can deliver us with a prime ruck duo. Whether that will happen this year, due to injury, is another thing.

These two together will give us two mobile ruckmen, to win just about anywhere around the ground.

We are nearly at the point where I'd say we were contenders, if the team believes in itself.

What they also need is for us to be entirely passionate, and give them all our support. Give it a try. Sounds crazy ???

Also, as part of these sort of threads, last year Otto was picked on (even though he had a serious injury), years before it was Graham.

We consistantly bag out our own players, it is sickening reading it sometimes. Give it a break, look at the better side of players and give praise to that.

Until the fans and the club stop being negative, nothing positive will come our way.

Have you been reading the book The Secret?...;) like attracts like...

...But its true. Geelong supporters are certainly a part of what we attract to the footy club via our attitude. Before anyone says our attitude is justified...ok I agree with that but how about we consider changing it?

Clubs who have enjoyed success in recent history have supporters who expect success...and isnt it funny how those same clubs often keep rising to the top. Sydney is one exception but it took a very strong individual in Paul Roos to turn that thinking around and even then they have enjoyed some finals 'success' in recent times. The Brisbane Lions and Crows same deal...Matthews and Blight knew how to get the players thinking success. Malcolm took Geelong as far as they have been since the 60's...but we all need to get over it at some point ie not winning one and being so close so often.

I too have been negative about the side and the club at various times in my life but agree that maybe I need to change my attitude. Maybe I should consider what it would be like to expect success and think more positively along those lines about my club.

Why cant we win a flag?...and before you answer that how many of you could actually picture us winning that flag on GF day when you read that? I think other club supporters believe... even when their side is going poorly because history has shown them they are capable...

What will it take for the GFC to win a flag? Maybe a change of attitude would be a start and actually imagining the great feeling success would bring to all of us an even better beginning.

True, but equally you need to spot your weaknesses so you can work hard to overcome them. Otherwise some players might slacken off because they think it will come too easily - exactly like Geelong in 2006. They assumed after round 2 they would cruise to victories and it didn't work out.

If Geelong's biggest concern - both players and coaching - is supporters daring to criticise them after poor performances they're doing pretty well.

Remember these guys are professional footballers, if they expect us to pay up money and support them, then there is nothing wrong with us expecting a certain level of performance.

I understand what your saying , But some people on this site and other areas such as the media go overboard with there criticism. We dont have to tread lightly not to upset the players or anything because we do have the right to put our points across , but there is a limit I think.
I know a lot of the Geelong players do read the stuff on this site and I think some comments can do more harm than good.

Lets not also forget that these are highly paid professionals... most are on $200k+. I'm afraid it goes with the job. Anyone working any other job paying this much is under high pressure / stress also..
On top of that, we as members pay their salary!! Tell you what, if I was getting that kind of money, I wouldn't give a toss what people said about me on a forum like this..

Members do not pay their salaries. Membership is only enough to pay for about a third of the team, the rest must come in sponsorship and the like.

I can tell you for a fact that players read this forum, and do feel harshly dealt with when they read some of the pessamistic crap on here. Remember, they get it from all angles at Geelong, with the Addy printing up crap every week, then the supporters ranting like fools.

Lets step aside from that and really support our lot, with a proactive and supporting member base, we will have success come our way. It will happen.

Have you been reading the book The Secret?...;) like attracts like...

Nope haven't read the secret, but have read Dr Wayne Dyer's books. Great and it is true, think positively, remove the pessamistic thoughts, and things will change.

...But its true. Geelong supporters are certainly a part of what we attract to the footy club via our attitude. Before anyone says our attitude is justified...ok I agree with that but how about we consider changing it?

Yep we should. Delivery of success comes from being positive in your life, if you don't, you will only breed lost thoughts.

Expectations often get mixed up with thinking positively. We all EXPECT Geelong to win, but once those EXPECTATIONS aren't met, we have a bad feeling, which often breeds poor thoughts. Bring the best out of it by thinking positively, like how your best player was, etc. Pat someone on the back, you quickly lose that poor thought process and start to look to next week proactively.

As the Fonz said, EXACTAMUNDO. If we all were proactive, and supportive, we can change our club for the better.

The worst thought in life is 'shame', this produces 'humiliation'. Imagine if you were reading some of this crap after your performance, you'd be thinging pretty bad about yourself as a player. They cannot then forgive themselves for their poor performance and cannot move on.

This is a pretty simple sort of mind strategy, where we all should be. Just because these guys earn 200K, doesn't mean we can bag them out, nor totally give up on the team.

Give them a break, be positive and see what that breeds.

The German Just because these guys earn 200K, doesn't mean we can bag them out, nor totally give up on the team.

I think everyone has their reasons for posting on here. I think we have to accept some are quite young who post and this is a fair bit of fun for them. I appreciate absurd humour as much as anyone and will continue to do so. My preference is to bag other posters and let them bag me because its realistic in the sense the person you are bagging has a way of answering you back...I think the players would feel quite frustrated at not having this chance to answer you back when they probably have alot to say in response if given the opportunity. This being the case I rarely outright bag a player of any club really...this doesnt mean I wont be critical.

I simply hope the criticism is somehow constructive or 'tastefully' humourous.

I think bottom line this is where we agree. How much someone earns doesnt mean you can say whatever you like to that person. It does however create a professional responsibility on their behalf to live up to a certain standard and thats where the constructive criticisms can play a healthy part.

Your point that if expectations arent met bad thinking creeps in quickly on here...thats fairly made. If all you want to do is criticise thats useless also as funny or absurd as it might be.

But just like everyone else this is just an opinion and one of many. What I assume we all agree on is we would love to see a flag any time soon. At some point I would like to think we see eye to eye on things that benefit the club in reaching that goal.

I agree, I don't mind humour, but when it gets a bit overboard, as in on this panel, it is a bit annoying.

We also agree that we all want that flag. Lets hope they can be successful.

Why would they read this forum and what makes you so sure they do?

Because a guy on this forum, who knows a certain GFC rookie, read something and was a little peeved with what was said.

They are individuals like us all, they like to read everything about their performance, other than the Addy, Age and HeraldSun.

Big Footy has a big name for itself, why wouldn't they read the forums ??
