is he the younger brother of John Rayner, who was a rookie at Bombers?

Christian Petracca is such a good player comparison for Rayner. They are almost identical prospects right down to the way they move.
Still some slight differences but yep very similar and they have both showed in their underage years that they can impact forward but both should be gun mids when they reach there prime

DRAFT prospect Cameron Rayner has shown his bag of tricks with a best-afield display in the NAB AFL Academy's 20th anniversary match at the MCG.

The explosive half-forward kicked three goals from 23 disposals and steered his side to a 46-point win.

Rayner was added to the academy last year after an impressive bottom-aged season when he booted 17 goals in eight games for the Western Jets, and the 187cm talent's marking, smarts around goal and power were on show in the game on Sunday.

He'd be flying up the ratings at the moment
I think alot of people have had him top 10 for awhile, he has jumped to 3rd after starting at 6. Late call ups to the AIS usually turn out being high picks just look at McClugagge from last year

Were McGrath and Taranto in the AFL Academy?
Nope both and from other sporting backgrounds and had school commitments so was harder for them to stand out when academy players where decided upon.

Being in the AIS isn't a guarantee you will be picked high but if your a late addition then you would be expected to go high

Would be a good year to have pick 1....

In all seriousness though this kid looks a jet, literally has everything, pace strength skill bit of x-factor, if we end up with a top 5 pick from the Hawks I'd love to snap him up

Hard to see him slipping past Brisbane's pick. Long season to go, so plenty of time for players to move around on team big boards, but he looks good as the early number 1.

Yeah certainly is the complete package thus far

Hey guys I am new to this but I just wanted to say I watched this boy down at Essendon grammar this week and he really has it all. He is a ready made AFL player! Skillfull on both sides of his body inside and outside mid with the ability to go forward and hurt teams on the score board, he is a hard matchup 1v1 and can change the game in 5 minutes of footy. His endurance has been a downfall but his game running wouldn't say that he covered the ground really well in the academy games and on Friday, I also believe with a afl preseason that would change. Even if he doesn't go number 1 the club that ends up with him will be licking their lips. A exciting talent and one I look forward to watching throughout the year!!! IMG_0311.JPG
