I think the bigger shock out of all of this is that Hawthorn fans are defending what is absolutely, unequivocally, a charge. Brown had no eyes for the ball, didnt spoil, and went the man with a locked shoulder at the body. That is as much a charge as anything I've seen in football.

Hawks fans pretending otherwise - and I've got a few in this office - are simply undermining any supposed knowledge you have. It was a charge, full stop, he should take the penalty and be thankful.

I don't even care whether the penalty was too harsh or too lenient.

My only interest is concern for a young kid's well being, and the slight amusement I get looking at the sheer unadulterated stupidity of someone getting themselves suspended in a pre-season game in a situation where it was completely unrequired for someone to go that hard and that recklessly.

I hope Brown's copping it on the Hawk's board.. If not he should be.

A fair few Hawthorn fans are the biggest bunch of sooks ever born with their incessant whining over what is effectively a one match suspension. I can't imagine how they'd cope if their side was as poor as Richmond and they'd lost one of their best players.
