Any truth at all to this "rumour". I've heard no official news reporting this injury.

Can anyone please confirm?

Surgery outs Blue for six

Carlton's shortfall of tall defenders will continue until at least the end of this month with Luke Livingston requiring surgery on his injured right ankle.

Livingston, who injured the ankle in round one against the Kangaroos, will go under the knife today after it failed to respond to conservative treatment. It is expected he could miss up to another six weeks, which could put him out for a total of eight matches.

With Bret Thornton still up to four weeks away from recovering from the knee injury he received in the grand final of the pre-season competition, the likes of Digby Morell and Karl Norman may have to continue filling in the key defensive positions for longer than coach Denis Pagan and his match committee envisaged.

The Blues also revealed yesterday that Scott Camporeale fractured a cheekbone in Saturday's loss to Collingwood at the MCG, although the injury was not connected with the incident over which the Carlton midfielder accepted a one-match suspension for striking Collingwood tagger Brodie Holland. Carlton communications general manager Ian Coutts said the fracture occurred during the third quarter as a result of normal contact in play. Camporeale was offered, and accepted, a one-match ban for striking Holland in the first quarter.

Camporeale's cheekbone was lifted back into place in an operation and he is expected to return for the round-five match against Fremantle, the same match he completes his suspension.


The lack of key-position defenders is hurting Carlton on the scoreboard. In round one, Saverio Rocca kicked four goals for the Kangaroos against the Blues, Scott Lucas six for Essendon in round two and the seven-goal contribution from Chris Tarrant and Anthony Rocca was a huge contribution to Collingwood's second-half comeback last Saturday.
