Well, now that Read has not nominated for the national draft it seems almost certain that we are going to take him in the pre season draft. Think about it, if we weren't offering him any guarentees then he would nominate for the national draft to guarentee himself another chance.

Can any1 explain the logic to me. To me we've got about 10 Phil Read's. Also has anyone else noticed that we're not interested in players from other clubs unless they've had at least 1 knee reconstruction (Ellis, Holland & now Read).

Someone like Copeland a tall run with player who can play on guys like Buckley, Voss, Riccuito would be exactly what we need. He is an honest footballer, which its pretty obvious after last year we have a lack of. To many guys drop their heads & Copeland is the type of guy who gives 100%, always.

I know theres been discussion about these players on other threads, but can some1 just let me know if they agree with me, or if I'm the complete nut here!!!

I don't think you're a nut at all, I agree with most of what you said.

In particular I think it's worth noting that we did have a few blokes drop their bundle last season, it was plain embarrassing!

PLEASE NOT READ!

The thing is though, copeland will almost certainly go in the national draft (probably to richmond i reckon) so that would rule him out. Read may then be the best remaining player in the pre-season draft so melbourne will most likely take him.

Fair point waspy, except Copeland isn't in the national draft!!!!!!!!

Copeland cant go in national draft and Reads manager stuffed up by not lodgeing papers in time!!!!
Copeland and Houlihan are the clubs first choices , just depends on Copelands demands but Houlihan is very keen..

Oh. Ok then. So many people have Copeland in their Phantom Drafts i just presumed he was nominated. In that case i wouldnt hesitate if i was melbourne to take Copeland at pick 3 in the PSD.
