We have a big emphasis on the road toll and ways to reduce it. This time of year is particularly dangerous in the cane toad community. Do you think cane toads discuss ways to reduce the road toll? And if so what are they?

It is quite obvious that no one cares about the plight of the cane toad, so can this thread be closed please.:mad:

I think if anyone sees a cane toad, they should pick it up and put it in their car...then when get home, they can release it in a nearby wildlife park ;)
 
I am quite fond of cane toads, they are very misunderstood and can be quite friendly.They also make a delicious plum sauce, but you do have to stew them a while or so.
 
Whenever I stay at my mum's place on the Sunshine Coast, I start every day by grabbing a 5 Iron and heading out the back to see if there are any golf ball substitutes. They fly if you hit them just right.
 
Well the hail we had last night was bound to kill a few. Not to mention our 3-wood a couple of days prior. Then my brother and I, went out in our car about midnight searching for cane toads, you find them big by a street light and then you run right over all of them! Good Fun:D

Hmmmm...

Cane toad or not, I believe that it's wrong killing any living creature (wth the capacity to feel pain, of course) just for the sake of "fun" or "entertainment". It is a pest, but that is NO excuse for unnecssary animal cruelty and/or sadism. I've killed cane toads before, but at least I did it humanely.
 
Cane Toads have the potential to wipe out all wildlife in N Queensland and now in Kakadu.

I think we can make an exception to Thrawn's misgivings in this case. They are an introduced species that threaten to take over and destroy an entire ecosystem.... I am not even a greeny and I am saying this and meaning it.

when me and my bro were at cairns, i sharpened up a stick and while he stomped on them and held them under his foot, i stabbed them in the head hahaha.
they r so flipping ugly!!

So just because it's ugly it deserves unnecessary torture? :rolleyes:

What sickens me is the intent and enjoyment of deliberatly torturing a living animal that has the capacity to feel pain. Just whack it with a heavy object... and end its suffering. Why torture it?

dont kno if youve ever noticed how FLAT they can get if u hit them with something heavy, and theyre still alive!
a pointy stick through the head is much quicker!!

If you derive pleasure from torturing animals, you're an idiot. Plain and simple. You cannot justify your post, and decide to call me a sook. Admit it, what I said was correct... so let me ask you again, why torture it? Stop side-stepping my question and answer it please.
 
I agree with Thrawn, some of these posts have been pretty disgusting, I cant understand the enjoyment you can get out of killing anything especially in these ways which is basically just torture

It's not inhumane. With the car they would have died quickly, what's the problem:D

At least I don't burn em to death which would be slow and very painful!

I didn't say what you did was inhumane... what I did say however was that killing animals for enjoyment/entertainment is morally wrong IMO.

from what ive found its not really enough cos it doesnt kill them! so get over it! who gives a fk about cane toads (besides you that is) why get all high and mighty, its just a flipping toad, which BTW is wiping out most of australias smaller animals in the QLD and NT areas :rolleyes:
