Cant mods ban users properly????

I have just received several PMs by our friend who sends the "Survivor spoiler PMs".

Clearly the mods on this board are incapable of banning this person because they keep re-registering as different users, this time they called themselves "Janet Jackson".

Can the mods ban people by their IP number so they cant simply re-register???

Just wondering because it is getting beyond a joke. Here is a sample of the other PM I got (as a collingwood supporter).

In terms of Survivor PMs, DB, it's pretty hard to ignore it... given the titles always contain spoilers...

I have 3 from him/she/it and won't go in there until after Survivor on Tuesday. Although by the PM quoted above, it sounds exactly the same old **** we've always got.

As I have 3, I'm betting one is a survivor spoiler, one is the Tom Davidson one and the other will be a nice tribute to my life.

Surprise me Sans, tell me it's something at least a little bit entertaining!

There's no effective way of banning them. If the ISP is banned it takes everybody on it out. In some cases that would block dozens of people.

It's just an unfortunate fact of internet life.

ok, maybe once a person registers there should be like a month delay before that registration is authorised? That would mean that they had to wait for an entire month just for a spoiler, and then be banned again. Its a bit more of a deterrent than being acitvated immediately.

PS: don't valid emails have to be registered... oh but i spose you just make 50 hotmail accounts (some life hey)

Maybe we are heading down the path of only non-hotmail and non-yahoo emails being used like a couple of other sites. I cant remember where but somewhere i was not allowed to enter a 'free' email address. I think it might have been ticketek?

Having said all that, quite unrealistic for a free messageboard. I'd guess most people on here use a hotmail account for their BF emails?

We have taken that path over at Nick's Collingwood Bulletin Board. We banned the use of alot of free type accounts...and it has stopped alot of trolls, but some still get through every now and then, but they don't last long.

I reckon, if people really want to use the board, then they will find a proper account, I think that would be more of a deterrant than anything else.

Why not make the site free, but usernames can only be created with a valid credit card number. I know its unfair on adults who do not have a credit card by choice, but if only one account was allowed per credit card number, would that solve your problems?

Good idea but the first Survivor spoiler (didn't check the rest) came from someone who'd made 7 posts in 2 years under that name.

I'm sure I've told you this before but I'll tell you again. The Survivor spoilers are sent by the same person under a different name each week because every time they do it they get booted by admin.
