We recently changed ISP. We retained one of our email addresses from our old ISP in order to be able to send change of addresses out at a more leisurely pace. Unfortunately on that computer, we now cannot send emails. I know all the settings are correct, because I set up the same account on my computer and it worked perfectly. We use Mozilla SeaMonkey as the email client. I also set it up on Thunderbird on that computer and it did not work. If anyone has any suggestions regarding this, we would appreciate them.

So you want to send out emails and make them appear "from" your old email address, correct?

And if you have set up an account using your new email address, with your new ISP, then all works, correct?

So what you should do is in your account settings, set one up pointing at your new ISP with all of the correct credentials, but with the email address set as your "old" email address (you might then also want to set the Reply Address as your new email)

I can't remember exactly how it all looks in Thunderbird as I ditched it for Windows Live Mail, but pretty sure you can set your email (effectively your From address) and your Reply address independently

Assuming your credentials with your new ISP are all correct, they should let it go through (even though it is coming "from" your old address)

HTH!

No Advertising on the webpages of gmail, hotmail, yahoo mail....the list goes on. ^^^and that....

Then buy a bloody domain
I own a domain
It's not very bloody, but the hosts of that domain don't support mail relays (or at least, not on the account that I have)

What the hell has it to do with you anyway? Why the care?

You can still use your local email program of choice with Gmail, Yahoo etc without being tied to an ISP, which would make the inevitable transition away from that ISP trivial. My friends that use ISP email always complain about the hassle of changing ISP when they could have avoided the hassles in the first place.

get a static ip, buy yourself an sbs box and host your own email. It's well worth it and a tax write off if it's for business.
