Indulge me here as there is a story in the lead up.
There was a strange noise coming from the next door neighbours house yesterday arvo. Waited until about 6 then checked it out. Car is gone, house is open and the TV is on full volume, just showing static. A bit weird we thought but the lady living there is fairly recently widowed, partly deaf and likes to have a drink or twelve. She also has a cattle dog cross that threatens to rip your face off if you enter where the open doors are.
By 8 or so, we decided it was weird she wasn't home, with her house still being wide open and this static coming from the TV was getting louder and louder as the night got quieter. We didn't know if she had been robbed, if she was hurt, if her car was stolen, anything.
So we call the cops and they finally show up at 1.30am. I heard them and got up. They threw this liquid on the dog as it was going to town and they needed to check the house. Immediately the dog calmed down and just sat there and watched them walk past. I thought it would cause some sort of burning or pain or something, but no, just made it chill the hell out. It was instantaneous and surreal.
Anyway they found nothing wrong, turned off the TV and left.
This morning the cops knocked on my door and it was another unit, who were unaware that the first unit had been there in the early hours of the morning. I had to laugh when I found out they too had thrown capsicum spray at the dog and gone inside. Poor bugger, they didn't need to go in a second time.
The dog has an orange stain on its nose and coat from the spray and I was left with instructions to tell the owner to wash it when she returns. To this moment she is still blissfully unaware of the drama at her home and the confused state of her dog.
Does capsicum spray affect the nervous system or something? Never seen anything like it. With the effect it had on the aggressive dog, I am amazed that some perps will keep going even after a dose of it.
