Who would be ur pick for captain of the swannies if you could not choose hall, leapin leo or kirky?

jude? goodes? mathews? bolton?

i'd choose jude... just cos he's hard at it & will lead by example in that sense!

but just to change things up i would love to see o'keefe take on the captaincy. he's everywhere!!! if that doesnt inspire & push his team mates i dont know what will!

Definately Goodes.

definately hey?? =)

well he would be very dependable as captain (his fitness & health).

look at buckly, voss, tredrea, riccuito... all great leaders but no point if ur sitting in the stands.

You asked who i'd pick.. i said Goodes.. you said Jude or ROK, so the same could go for them about injuries.

Provided that there isn't injuries, then i'd say Goodes would be the perfect candidate.

yeh the difference between goodes v ROK & jude is that ive seen (& im sure u have too)... goodes play even after sustaining "injuries" the week before (apparent torn ligaments right knee? - i dont know what year)...

Before i opened this thread... immediately i thought Goodes would be a good captain.

His never say die attitude is their inspiration.

Same bloke?? :p

If I had my way, Benny would be captain, but I dont have my way, so I'd pick Jude out of those 3.

I think i'm missing your point.

dont worry, everyone does! =)

wat im sayn is that not many other players can follow up the week after (not even jude or rok) >>>>> refer to link & quote

Damaged Goodes still worth the risk

By Jessica Halloran

".....Goodes has had to play with a damaged posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee for the majority of the season, and now the medial ligament in his left knee is torn. Despite these complications, he has still been a crucial player for the Swans...."

.. what does this have to do with him not being captain?

i never meant that he's not worthy of being captain.. my point is that even tho he sustains such injuries - which usually leave other players out for a few weeks a least, he can still manage to play on & hav an impact... hence me saying he would be a durable captain. i jst prefer to see jude as capt. that is all.

Yes and being durable is a good thing, that's what got me confused.. i thought you were saying that it's a bad thing.

I just think he is a guy that could possibly be captain one day. He is a very smart footballer and is extremely courageous.

Very true. He's a great small forward... and he can really pump the team up. As we saw back in round 9 i think, when we versed the Kangas at Manuka Oval. Kicked a few goals and saved the Swans.. *sigh* reminds me of something...

His 3 goals in the 05 prelim? I loved all those goals, my fav was probably the last one though.. Leo kicked it to him and then him running in.. the commentary was great aswell.

Goodes is the obvious one in my mind, although I would not have felt it a few years ago. At the end of 2004 I was beginning to believe that we may have seen his best, his knees were just stuffed. But after last year, he showed the maturity to keep building his game on an excellent season in 2005 and unleash freakish game after game in 2006. Due to his immense engine, he would always be an inspiration to the team, I just don't know if he is forthright enough within the team to take the strips off and pump the players up when needed. That, however may be an idle concern and can be fixed.

The other two obvious ones are Kirk and Jude.

Jude lacks skills and goes missing too often. Hardly leads by example. Besides his best vocation is as a K-Mart brochure model.
