Yeah I would of thought it would be one of Green,Beamer, Davey or outside chance at Grimes.
 
Beamer and Davey are clearly strong leaders but Green is the most experienced, consistant and probably has the best media ability as well.

Plus they can give him 2 years then hand it to Grimes.

Agreed. As much as Beamer is a great leader and has immense passion for our club, Brad Green is an absolute monty for the role. Beamer and Davey as Vice Captains. Would love to see Sylvia have more of a leadership role as well. He has such a presence that is hard to ignore.

Green should have a few years left which will give the club time to develop new leaders such as Scully, Grimes and Watts. I'm sure one of these 3 will be our future captain.

Agree with you on green however do not like your three options for the future!
One has no contract beyond 2011, the next looks good and the last has yet to prove he will be around in three years.
There may be another 4-5 players that come to the fore by the time the next captain moves on.
I think you have your sights set a little low.

fair enough imo, if they get promoted they still need to have had a vote for their future captain

Wuh? From what i have seen thus far in their careers, Scully, Grimes and Watts could all be groomed as captain of the MFC in the future.
all have the potential to be A Grade players, and all handle themselves off the field exceptionally well for young men. Whether their respective contracts end in the next 12 months or so has nothing to do with me thinking they all could be captain material.

Let me reiterate my comment, and say that Grimes, Scully and Watts could all be groomed as a future skipper of the MFC. I think our club is blessed with great young men and these 3 imo lead the pack...

Your selections are not bad I just happen to think a couple of others will enter the fray over the next 2-3 years.
God knows how the future will treat these three, I just happen to think it is doubtful that all three will be around in 2013-4.
Scully must be on GWS' radar for a big offer, Grimes suffers a lot of back related injuries and Watts who knows!
I was just trying to get you to look further into our list.

No sweat buddy! I just feel that if these 3 players weren't around at our club in 3-4 years time, I'd be very surprised and disappointed. We have invested a lot of time and effort(not to mention hight draft picks) on all 3 players. I can't see any of these 3 not being a big part of our future....

I hope you are right!
I just have a bad feeling that a couple of these guys will be lost through no fault of the MFC.
If someone offered you twice your salary would you move?
Hell I would! and the GWS won't be a long way behind the Dees in ladder position and premiership chance by 2013,
If Scully wanted to go to GWS in 2012 there is not a lot the MFC could do about it.
As well I truely worry about Grimes health.

Yeah I think Grimes is safe. I think if you got offered your dream job (Grimes barracked for Melbourne pretty severely apparently) and you get a decent wage already I think you wouldnt move.

Though Scully still worries me though I think it is just a pitch to get more money.

Jared Rivers was in the leadership group this year and is highly respected as a mentor around the club. In saying that, I think Chunk brings a lot to the table and would like to see him in there too.
