Alright, here's the scenario.
I just bought a 97 VT Berlina. I hate the soundsystem. I want to upgrade completely eg. all new speakers, an amp and sub.
I like my music loud but not what I call Tezza or Terry Toughnut loud which has the aim of attracting attention.
I have a 20min drive to town nearly every day on the open road so plenty of time to enjoy my music loud, but when I hit the streets I calm it down a bit.
The thing is I have NO idea what to do. All I know is that I need a new head unit, speakers, sub and amp but I dont know the requirements of each and what means what. I have a very basic knowledge of it all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers:thumbsu:

yeah - depends what your budget is

If you just want improved sound, try spending some decent bucks on some very good speakers (only). That will probably be sufficient for what you want without blowing uneccessary $$ on a new system and a sub and all that other pretty useless crap. ;)

Well I was thinking of getting a nice but not over pricey head unit for around $600 and then really good speakers (f & b) and if that didnt do it for me then I was going to install a sub and amp. I would say my budget at the moment is around $1500 for speakers and head unit. What do you reckon?
Do I get brand name stuff? Or is it like clothes where youre just paying for the name? It doesnt bother me as long as it sounds good and lasts.
I am not trying to turn my car into a night club, I cant listen to my music loud at home because the family chucks a tantrum so I bought some good headphones to solve that. But I love it when you can feel the bass in a pixies song or feel the crazy drumming in a tool song. Hardly the stuff a nightclub plays.

Try'n concerntrate more on the front speakers rather than the rears as well...i learnt that :P

having great front speakers makes such a big difference!

haha yeah, I had a VN before this and could barely hear the rears so I learnt from that. Thanks mate.

What do I look for in good speakers? Is it watts?
