Well, there was a lot of flack from the PAP supporters about the club "folding to the media" and re-signing Ayres early.

I've been thinking about that and the supposed impending Carey announcement. Remember when Adelaide originally stated they were in the chase for Carey, he wanted to know who would be coaching in 2003 and beyond? I wonder if the reason Ayresy was re-signed early was to show Carey that Ayres will be the coach. Perhaps that announcement has some bearing on him now (reportedly at least) making his decision of preferred club. Makes more sense to me than garbage about folding to the media anyway.

In Roo's post game interview yesterday he said it was Ayresy that was holding off in the contract negotiations and not the club....

Roo said Ayresy wanted to get a few more wins under his belt for better bargaining power.....

Actually shows he has a lot of confidence in his ability. Wouldn't want to hold out and then lose 3 in a row or something
