Anyone with a thirst for the history of the game and especially in NZ should check out this FB page. Brought back some great memories of days gone by.

Wished the Warriors had of gone to a redeveloped Carlaw instead of Mt Smart.

Always looked a tough as nails place on the old footage of early winfield cup games played there (pre-warriors).

Also loved the photos of it in abandonment tbh, shabby but still had a bit of an aura about it.

I'm proud to say i not only watched games at the grand old lady but i ran onto the park infront of 15000 one day as a kid in a half time game. Great memories. I'd like to add also that i have an uncle thats a NZRL and Auckland RL life member. He tells me that plaques made from the old wooden stand seats are still available to purchase through the Auckland RL.

I thought about you when i posted AM. I recalled you saying you had reffed at the ground. Do you remember the old brick ticket boths as you entered the ground AM? They have been rebuilt and are at the rugby league museum in Auckland.

I do remember them mate. We used to always go in the Domain entrance, but as we got older Dad used to take us in through the Stanley St entrance. If I was a good lad we used to sit in the Railway. Was funny, out of the 6 boys I was the only one who used to go on a consistent basis. Pity he went so young (58)

Must visit the museum when I head back in October for my sons wedding.
