I know this is a minor point... but do you think Carlton can get back to wearing DARK navy blue on both the front and back of the guernsey.

Looking at this photo of C J it looks like they have a dark panel on the back and a lighter blue on the front....why?

What are you on about? He's wearing the normal home kit.
With the new material they use it seems to take away a bit of the dark from the navy blue.

It depends how good the resolution is on your computer but I think with the thinner lightweight material on the guernsey you lose some of the dark navy blue colouring.

I guess it is just a byproduct of the new design.

It is a bit like how Hawthorn's guernsey isn't really brown and yellow anymore...it is almost black and yellow. You can fiddle around with the colours i guess with all the new technology.

OK, I can see a very slight difference between the front and back. It's probably just lighting. This would be the exact same match-day jumper you can buy in the shop, and there's no difference between the front and back panels.

I guess it is a minor issue...there are more important things to focus on(such as drafting), but one of the reasons I got attached to the club was the style of the guernsey and as it says in the song:-

"we are the old DARK navy blues"

I just would prefer it to be the dark navy blue ... it should be almost black in colouring, but is instead shiny and glossy mid blue due to the fabric they use I presume.

The image that you have posted doesn't show the back of the jumper. The difference in colour I think you are referring to is due to the side panels being a different material.

Why is it that we wear a different color jumper for night games than day games?

Sorry just acquiring the urine at the seriousness of this issue that sits third on the United Nations to do list after solve world famine and world peace.

The jumper is navy blue. The front is lit the back is in shadow in that pic, the material is new (compared to when we were kids but has been around a while now) which is all to do with keeping the athlete comfortable or at the correct temp or hydration etc, the materials reflect, refract and absorb light differently and that shot looks to me like its at a night game so of course the temperature of the light is different to that of a day game which in turn effects the color of objects.

This one IS rocket science.

Edit, and I am sure the words Old "dark" navy blues refers to our mood, not the color of our jumper, as in I was in a very dark mood at all of the bullshite threads that seem to be popping up recently.

It's just a strip under the arms with different material. I bought Kade Simpson's on field jumper last year and it's bizarre. The stretchy material is darker and it looks a bit odd but it's very comfy.

Nice day out, eh?

Our colour is the same, it just looks lighter when in light reflects off the sheen because the manufactured material its made from.

Much prefer to see our boys running around in the new strips rather than the old woolen?? jumpers. Natural fibre tends to have a more matte finish, but lacks the performance of the manufactured.

I own a genuine jumper. There is a strip of elastic that runs from the arm pit down. I guess to stop it tearing when pulled. It's not the back piece you are seeing.

I think it's made out of the same material as the piece on the back of the shorts, which if i remember correctly was help designed by Fev so they can wipe their hands on it, bit like a sweat band.

Best and Worst Club Jumpers

So here is the "Best of the Jumpers" list, from 1 to 17, including the atrocity that is the GC jumper.

1. CARLTON: Dark navy, white motif. Great mix. Powerful

2. MELBOURNE: Love the almost black blue and red. Kills the royal blue and red shocker of 80s.

...

16. BRISANE LIONS: Paddle pop lion no good.

17. GOLD COAST: Is that still their training jumper? Uninspiring.

Best and Worst Club Jumpers

That pic in the original post wouldn't work for me, but with the other pic that was posted, the navy one looks to be all the same colour to me. Maybe my eyes are messed up or something though?

I remember reading that the panels help the jumper contour better to the body to aid transfer of sweat away from the body to aid cooling

Ours has long been applauded as the best jumper and others are going dangerously close to copying it. This year Port looked almost identical as us from the back and a number of times during telecasts I had to do a double take.
Collingwood went to back to having black with a white number after over a hundred years of the opposite. It was interesting that St.Kilda were then forced to change their traditional jumper for the Grand Final to white with a black number to accomodate Collingwood who changed theirs. You know who is running the league. North never get to keep their stripes when playing Collingwood.

I have no problem with the navy blue but have never been able to get used to the new logo - bring back the old one (the one I grew to know and love from my first game in 1961 onwards!).
Also lets get rid of those appalling socks we sometimes wear at away games - the one with the solid white band around mid-calf length.
